The Wednesday with a run and dinner with CallanSou

 Hi,

went for a run after work. Not with Callan and Mike. Behind them. But it felt ok. The evening was actually quite nice.

At 4pm the whole of NZ got the tsunami warning from the huge Russian earthquake. That was a bit of a fright when we were all at work.

Sourdough

Went to Otto after the run and enjoyed a burger with Callan. Mike joined after his late meeting and then I headed home on my bike.

Packed and baked bread. Then to bed. Up to bus in with Mike for gym. At 6.30am the alert for the tsunami came in again.

Did PT session.  Bench., Eccentrics.  57.5kg. OMG. So hard. My arms are weak now.

Then data brekkie at Smith the Grocer. And off to Blenheim later today after work. Spring challenge training.

Have a good weekend.

Love,

Angela

The Tuesday working from home

 Hi,

I took no pics yesterday when we both worked from home. Not even of the very cute cats. The weather was terrible and Mike let Moxley out the front door and forgot about her. Saw her an hour later really grumpy that she was out in the cold. he opened the door to let her in and what a grumpy noise she made. Hahahah. So funny.

We made tea when work finished and enjoyed the vege pasta bake a lot. Watched some You Tube. Went to bed.

Mike got up to head to the gym with Quentin this morning and I read in bed. Showered. Forgot about my dough I needed to shape. Did that. Got covered in flour and dough. Had to retrieve my keys and rings from the garage. Fed the starter. OMG

What a mad morning.

Hope your day is way better than mine has started out like. Hahah.

Angela

The Monday back in Wellington and working from home

 Hi,

Happy birthday today to my wee sisters. Shona and Sharon. Hope their day is awesome.

At least the cats were happy we were home yesterday and working there. We got the washing done so that was a good thing.

Iced coffee

Headed to the gym for Spin after work. Tried the 17:30 session. But at 18:00 when we finished, there were no treadmills available for a run.

Spin

So we drove to Karori for a run around the park there. Except it is not lit and was pitch black. So back home to have some tea and go to bed.

Hahahah.

Up at 6.45am for my 7am garage gym session with Quentin. Oops. I was fine though.  85kg deads. 3 x 4 sets. Then some shoulder/back work.

Back to the house for brekkie. And at work again today from home. Only because I wanted a sleep in.

Have a fantastic day.

Love,

Angela

The weekend with our first ski trip of 2025

 Hi,

What a fabulous weekend - our first ski trip of the season. Thank you to Ana and Daniel for looking after us in Rolleston and driving us up and down the maunga both days.

We were up early Friday and on a flight to Chc at 7.45am. Super easy and Toby and Tessa came to see us. It was -3C when we landed - but really nice weather.

Early Fri flight

Strange bandit brekkie

Mike had to work - so off to Strange Bandit -which was packed. Had a nice brekkie there. Left Mike and we went to see the new flat that Toby and Tessa hope to secure. Looks nice from the outside. Let's see what happens. They want to move in later rather than sooner so I expect they will miss out on this one as it is available now.

Off to Sala cafe for a quick coffee. Then off to Wigram to look around and go to the movies to see Fantastic 4. Not a bad movie. Retro. Good.

Good latte at Sala

Wigram has balls

Silky Otter for Fantastic 4

At the movies

Chilled for a bit then off to City Fitness at Burnside to workout with Tessa. A run and then rowing. Good fun.

Gym session near our work

Mike finished work and we headed off to some dinner. Decided to try a pub in Wigram - The Good Home. Good food - a long wait as they were very full but it was really good. Definitely an older clientele, it made Mike and I feel quite young in comparison.

Dropped Toby and Tessa home and then drove to Ana and Daniel's place in Rolleston. The pups were in the kennels for the weekend ahead of a big ski weekend so we didn't see them until late Sunday.

We settled in to catch up on all the news and see some pics from their recent huge adventures in South America (then Europe).

Up early to be away from Rolleston by 7am. Got to the top of the maunga by 8.20am. Not as crispy as Friday.

Truck is ready

Early Saturday drive

Through the checkpoint and up to the top

Great day - the high winds had put punters off but it wasn't very bad at all. Dropped away by the afternoon.

Found Angus and he skied with Mike and Ana and Daniel a bit. Good to get a couple of days skiing done and build up my confidence more.

Let's do this

Bacon sliders and Vege sliders at the mountain cafe were quite delicious

Summit 6

Such a good view from the top

DJ cranking sounds, a great vibe at the bottom

Back home to Rolleston and a shower and then off to Christchurch to see Toby and Tessa at the Vegan Night Market. The food was so good!

Saturday night Vegan Night Mākete

Toby and Tessa

Home again and off to bed at 7.30pm. I swear I was asleep by 8pm. We were both quite exhausted!

Up early again for a Sunday rinse and repeat. Away slightly later and in the top carpark by 8.30am. A lot busier today though. Nice conditions. Ana was on a snowboard in the morning with Daniel coaching her. So Mike and I skied together a lot.

Finished at 2.30 and got away down the mountain early so we could pack up and go to the Coachman and Ana and Daniel could pick up their two doggos.

Met everyone at Scoundrel, including Angus' new girlfriend who happened to be working as a waitress there. oohhhh.  Good to see Steph and Sam there too. Yummy food. Played with the dogs. What fun.

Sunday night Scoundrel

Awww

There's my boy

Dropped off Toby and Tessa and the car and walked back to Coachman for a sound sleep.

Up early to fly back home. The Euro football final was on! It went to penalties just as I had to put my phone to flight mode.

Iced latte and football in the departure lounge

Good flight and drove the car home to see the cats.

And now at work.

Hope your weekend was great fun. Thank you to everyone for an awesome time.

Enjoy the week ahead.
Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with lots of work on

 Hi,

Such a busy day. I meant to go to Spin after work with Juliet but our final meeting of the day went longer than expected leaving us no time to change and run there. Waaaaah.  But it is getting into my routine again - so that is good.

New charger holder from Shane's 3D printer - not for my bike light. For our EV at home.

Shane and I enjoy the sunny morning with an iced latte

Here it is, a bit closer for you

Then Mike got me one too - I am powered by caffeine today

Mike went for a run after work then collected me from my late meeting and we went to Otto together. Enjoy beers and a burger (ok - no beer for me) and then headed home on the bus.

Evening view over the harbour

Dinner at Otto with Mike

We were in bed and asleep by about 8.45pm so I am not really sure if Mike and I have some sort of weird virus we're fighting off or not. Weird to go to bed so early two nights in a row.

Mike was up to head to town for his PT session with Quentin and I had mine with Quentin in the garage gym.  Deads.  80kg.  3 sets x 4 reps. Felt good.

Then I had a concerted  effort to find my missing keys from my bike ride last Friday. And I eventually found them in the bag I searched first because that is where I put them. But - they were in the helmet holding part of the bag. I would never put anything tiny in there - so I never checked it that first search time.

But desperation made me just check there - and there they were.

I found my lost keys - in the bag I knew they were in but missed the first search

Thursday is a stunner here

I have not found my snapper card though. So Mike is going to buy me one today.  :-p

Off skiing tomorrow to Chc. But Toby is in bed sick today. Not sure we will see much of him over this weekend. Poor wee guy.

Have a great day. And a better weekend. Unless you are Toby - in which case:  feel better soon.

Love,

Angela

The Tuesday with work

 Hi,

Busy week - so sorry if I've missed things.  My brain was definitely full by about 10am yesterday. Hahah. I was smashed when I got to work after gym. Quentin had said to make sure I eat. I didn't. I showered and was still jittery. Told Maureen. And she said to eat. Must be a real thing! Hahah. So I ate my lunch sandwich Mike and I got from French Kiss cart and I felt much better.

Catch up with Gokila

Caught up with Gokila in the afternoon at the work cafe. Good to chat to her. She has a dance competition at the end of August I want to try and see. How cool is that?

Tim and Toby

Chatted to Tim at the end of the day and met his dog, Toby. Beautiful chocolate lab.

Rode home. Mike bussed home. Mike made me soup. And we were in bed not long after that. Feel much better today so goodness knows why we were both so tired.

Rode in this morning. Mike went to the gym. Big day at work for me.

Spin after work with Juliet.

Enjoy your day!

The weekend with date night on Saturday

 Hi,

What a whirlwind of a weekend.  Friday was so lovely - after a string of wet Fridays. Maureen was keen for a ride so after I walked into town and back for an appointment in the morning, I headed to Tetahi Bay boat sheds on the inlet and waited for Maureen.

Cats find me warm

ready to ride

She arrived bang on 12.30pm and I got her older bike ready for me to ride. And we took off anti-clockwise around the wee peninsula. Pretty flat but the path seems to have disappeared in places and it got a little sandy and loose (ok - that seemed to be just me - Maureen never even slowed up).

So ready!

View across the harbour to Sally M

Waved at Sally M across the Porirua harbour. It was such a calm day. So many people out enjoying the sunshine. After poking into some rock pools we rode up the hill to the really huge mast. Had a great view over Mana Island, Kapiti island and to the South Island.

Such calm seas

I want to jump in! With a wetsuit.

I buy Maureen a coffee because I lost a bet

Back after an hour and 10km to the car and into Tawa for a coffee at Offering.  This is where I paid out on my bet. Maureen has a black fingernail from a hammering incident and I was sure she would lose it. She has not.  Well - NOT YET!  Hahah. But the best was a month.  So I lost and bought her coffee.

Pear tart post ride treat

She thinks I should feed her

Saturday saw us up super early. Like 5am the alarm went off. Ate our porridge and drove the Subaru out to Greytown. I had to drive because we had the mini golf courses in the back and so the seats needed to be racked right forward to make them fit. Hahah.

Saturday drive to Greytown - very cold

Halfway along the park run

Greytown Park Run was so good.  0C was quite cold. But no wind or anything. I wore a merino long sleeve top, a t shirt and my running hoodie. And my tights.  I actually ran with my hoodie up and gloves on. It was just right.

Frosty

Post park run iced latte

Back to Clareville for some brekkie and coffees. Then onto Masterton where we dropped off the mini golf courses at Shane's place. We met Pepper - she is such a gorgeous dog. And then headed back to Wellington. Our quick Wairarapa adventure completed!

Bussed into town for our 3pm Float session. So nice. I am sure I fell asleep in there. All clean and relaxed afterwards and headed to Joe's Garage for some early dinner.

Post-Float Joe's Garage dinner

Went to see Superman at the Embassy at 18:20.  It was in one of the little cinemas below the big main screen. I really enjoyed the movie. Not the usual fare - and the most recent Superman movies have been a bit dire, I reckon. This one captured the Man in Superman and rather than the Super. Well worth it.

Uber home and into bed.

Up Sunday and Mike made me eggs while I watched an epic Women's Euro game. France v Germany. Drama! Germany down to 10 players and 0-1 down after 15 mins due to a brain fade moment where someone pulled a French player's hair in the box! Idiot. France slotted that penalty. Then in some crazy moment of brilliance Germany equalised. And it stayed like that for regulation time and into extra time. Then penalty shoot outs where the German goalkeeper was probably the biggest difference. So there you go!

Sunday garage clean out

Best save in the WEuro France v Germany game

We cleaned up some of the garage and got our ski gear ready for next weekend. Took our carpet offcuts to Epuni, ready to see if we can get that laid in the vestibule area at Polly's wee unit. Back for lunch with Sally and Andrew turned up as we ate our lunch.

Back home and Mike got a migraine in the afternoon. So he went to bed. Elly came and we did a garage session. Bench. 40kg. She is so strong.

Wally arrived to grab the Subaru for moving some furniture. Good to see him and Jason. Mike got up and headed to the James' place for dinner.

Garage gym with Elly

Moxley was so happy to have Jason's lap!

I made lemon cake

And I made lemon cake with the lemons from 40WLW. Yay! Mike got home and we ate lemon cake with yoghurt in front of the TV, watching a terrifying megavalanche mtb race. And we went to bed not long after that.

Mike made it to his Monday morning gym session - I hope he is not too woozy after his migraine.

It's Spin for me after work today. Woot!

Enjoy your day. And the week ahead.

Love,

Angela
