The Monday with dinner out and a roaring fire

Hi,

Our dinner out after work, with friends who are also without their child for this part of the school holidays, went very well.  We had a drink at the local near work (it is quite nice - the GP on the corner of Boulcott and Willis) and then went upstairs for dinner.  I had a nice Jambalaya as did Hamish.  Mike's beef steak looked scrumptious.  We had a good chat and then Mike and I headed back to work (it is just next door) and on our bikes for the ride home.

When we got home, Mike decided to use the brazier to burn lots of our garden waste.  The wind had almost died down.  Apart from swirling strong gusts that sent me fleeing from my ringside seat in a flurry of embers and disturbed the romantic notion of sipping sparkling red grape juice, cuddling Mike, whilst reading my book.  Mike had the garden hose on standby (and did use it, but not to put out potential threatening fires, just to dampen down the surrounds).  In the end, the combination of tinder-dry wood and twigs and the swirling winds bringing stacks of oxygen to the flames meant Mike burned through about half of the pile.  Amazing.

Don't tell Toby as he loves brazier nights.  They don;t happen often as the wind is often too strong.  Bit like last night really.  Heheheh.

We have a cub meeting tonight, but hope to pop in to see Vivienne and John before that (and after our tea at home).  They have window catches like ours, so it makes sense to rescue some of theirs before they get carted out of their property as waste.

Have a great day!

Love,
Angela
