The Tuesday with a quiz win

 Hi,

After a hard day in the office, it was certainly nice to get over to the Green Man pub for the quiz. We were met by Elly, Ange, Lisa, Barb and Hamish and Jon. Well, and me and Mike.

The quizmaster had trouble with his tech and about halfway through none of the videos played. So some of the questions were just a question like: how old is Tatum O'Neal here? With a blank screen. No sound.

I got that question right. Hahah. Guessed it was when she won the Oscar for Paper Moon. Said she was 9. Everyone looked at me. Then said it might be 10 because it might be when she actually won the Oscar - not the age she was in the film.

I was right.

My best achievement of the night. And knowing the name of the Fleetwood Mac song Silver Springs. Thanks to The Beaches version on my playlist.

My underwhelming pirate scars

Ange dropped us home and we chatted to Tom for a bit then went to bed. I had a poor sleep. 2am was awake and listening to the wind and rain.

But once we got up this morning we realised it really was terrible weather. A fierce wind and rain. We are in the clouds here.

Working from home. Ange coming to visit later today. And I do have a coffee date in town to see Fiona Horrell and Barb.

The Tuesday with a quiz win

 Hi,

I am going to lose followers without pics of my cats. Hahahah. Mike and I miss them. We went to bed last night and there should be a cat curled up on our bed. Another cat prowling the house, enjoying the fact that no other being is anywhere to disturb them. But no. We feel their absence.

However Toby is keeping us happy with cat content, such as:

Yesterday I sat in Madeleine's old seat - and sent her the pic below. She couldn't make the quiz night because the leader debate was on. The Chrises. Good on her for making way to watch that.

After work I wandered over to the Green Man with Mike and got some food ordered. We had a big team. Ange and her mum, Marion. Juliet and Rose. Michelle. Lisa. Jesper. Elly. Me and Mike.

And we smashed it. Ange and Elly were on fire. Winners by 3 points. Wow. And we had some tough rounds so it was very unexpected.

Taste test

Ange dropped me and Mike home and we said goodbye (until next time) to Marion. Watched the last half of the leaders debate with Tom. Who won? Well... did any of them cover themselves with glory? Actually, what I saw, I would give Hipkins the edge. But really - they are so similar and that is the rub. People want something different.

High Fives all around

Off to bed. Asleep fairly quickly. Up for Mike to run for his bus. And me to have muesli. Realise the best bus for me was the #13 at 7.44. See the current time was 7.20am. And I was still eating muesli and in my pyjamas.

Challenge accepted. I rushed into the shower. 7.30am I was getting dry and getting dressed. 7.41 I ran out the door and down the steps to the bus stop. Got there at 7.44am - and watched as my watch clicked over to 7.45. Uh oh. Had I missed it?

No. Around the bend came my #13 at 7.46am. And what's more - the machine did not accept my credit card payment. So a free bus ride for me.

Biggest news of yesterday is our house went on the market.  4 Norwich Street, Wadestown, Wellington, Wellington

The house looks amazing. Well done Mike for wrestling the house to the position where it looks so good.

I met Ange and Dee after work at The Green Man after Foxglove drinks to farewell Angie. It is all happening.

Jon and his mate Rain came - and John turned up after a few more drinks with Angie. And after a tough quiz, we managed 5th place. I was impressed. Our joker rounds were perfect. 9 and 10.

Ange took me home and Mike just got home after the last touch ups at home. And after a chat to Tom and Elly, we were off to bed.

Up for by biopsy morning. 3 things taken off. Stitches in my back. Looks tidy enough. Let's see what comes back.

The Tuesday with quiz night

 Hi,

After a wet grey morning the sun came out and we had quite a nice day. If still a little chilly. Michelle and Tim went for a run along the waterfront and visited Te Papa. They had a great time.

After work Mike and I got picked up by Ange and headed to the Green Man for quiz night. Quite a few of us were there. 9 maybe. Angie and Rob, Michelle and Tim, Mike, me, Ange, Jon and Jesper. Yep. And what a team! Despite Music round being a joker round where we only got 5/10, we won by 1 point. Ended with two perfect rounds of 10/10. One of them being our other joker round of Geography.

Said goodnight to Michelle and Tim and Ange took us back home. In bed and asleep very quickly. Up for gym for Mike. And there is only a high of 10C forecast today. Right now it is 7C and the wind chill is making it feel like -2C.

Yes. -2C. Michelle and Tim might never come back here. :-D

The Wednesday that felt like Friday

 Hi,

Mike got home yesterday and had the day off to sort out the loft. Sally came over to help and they did a mighty job.

Personally, I am not going anywhere near the garage. Mike knows.

We had dinner and Andrew got home from his work. Delicious pizza Mike made. Yum! And some bread.

Off to bed and we did the quiz just before sleep. Good work us!

The Tuesday with quiz

 Hi,

After a tough day at work, it was nice to get to The Green Man for a late dinner and quiz. Ange and Angie were there - with Mike. The 3 Anges. :-D

Tied for second - but lost the tiebreaker

Final results shows us in second place

Angie was on fire. And Ange and I bounced off each other in boss mode. We ended up tied in second place, just one point behind the winning team. And lost the tie breaker. We guess 350 tube stations on London's underground. The other team guessed 242. There are 272.

Ange dropped us home and we fed the cats. I did remember we forgot to mention Moxley's adventures the previous evening. Mike let her out at 7.30pm when he did the rubbish. Set a cat timer. Smudge even went out for a wee while. Smudge came in. Mike set another cat timer. And forgot. He came to bed around 10pm. And then we realised there was no Moxley. And Mike got up, wrapped a towel around himself and checked outside.

In the freezing weather. No sign of her. Odd. He came back to get dressed and fetched a can of Fancy Feast and wandered around the perimeter of the house calling for Moxley. Nothing. I pulled a hoody on and also went out to call her. Then Mike thought to check the garage. He looked in the door window and saw her cross little face saying: why have you left me in here?

So Moxley had snuck in while he was in there sorting out the rubbish and Mike missed that. And locked her in. 2 hours in the cold garage probably wore off.

We fed the cats and went back to bed. Hahah.

Last night Moxley was happy to cuddle under the duvet below my legs. Probably glad she was not in a garage again.

The Tuesday with quiz night

 Hi,

I believe I failed to write a blog yesterday. Wow. How odd. But it was a different morning routine at work to usual. We had a mihi whakatau for a new person starting and it was such a great way to start this new chapter in my work's direction, internally. Goosebump stuff. Especially when I heard Myra do the karanga. Wow.

I had a busy day after that at work. Had an urgent piece of work surface up. So it is all hands to that. Shaping it up to see if we can nail it!

And it was Melbourne Cup. Work had a sweep so I bought two horses for me and Mike for $2 a horse. No idea of the horses. Pulled out #2 and #15. So assumed 15 was a donkey and gave it to Mike. Hahah. Both of them were far from the winning post. I could see the jockey on my horse had the experience not to push his animal when it was obvious it would have no hope of a finish. So that is good.

At Mean Doses quiz

Walked to Mean Doses after Mike and Janine's run. Andrew and Kara joined us. And the combo was a winning one.

And we won!

Our joker round was the last round - Geography. And we were a few points adrift of the leaders when we hit the penultimate round. But the leaders had played their joker already. And when we got a good score in a tricky geography round, it was going to be close. 3 teams had this round as their joker.

But it was tricky. And we actually did the best in that round. We got 9 right. Which, to be honest, I did not pick because it was tough. And not really geography, really.

The scores came out, with added drama for tension from Dave, and we were in front by 4. Woot! Bar tab for us for next time.

Got an Uber home with a very nice chap. And home to bed.

Up for a bike ride in and Spin after work I hope.

The Wednesday with a spontaneous quiz night

Hi,

What a crazy day.  Spin bookended my day - 6.30am with Flo (always good!) and 5.30pm with Josie.  Great fun.

I did get away with Joycie for a takeaway Machete iced latte.  Mmmmm.  It was so good sipping at that when I got back to my desk.

Hurtled out to Microsoft to support a guy in my team presenting NZBN fun.  He did so well.  Mike was in the audience.  Rami did a introduction and we observed a minute silence for colleagues killed in Christchurch.

Nailed it!

After work I went to spin - and then Mike convinced me to come and help him in some spontaneous quiz at The Churchill.  We were a team of two and I got there at the end of Round 2.

After some fun rounds, we ended up in second place and scored $50 and a 2for1 meal voucher.  The team that beat us had 10 punters in the team, so their winnings amounted to very little in comparison once they split their winnings.  Hahahah.

Nailed that too!

Ubered home listening to some crazy stories from the driver (some woman that lived in Karori pinned a destination in Palmerston North.  He tried to clarify - she insisted.  Turns out she was astonished when she looked up and they were in Pukerua Bay.).

Fell into bed.  Slept like I was in a coma.

What a great woman - and we're going to see her again in May.

Nice day today.  PT session with Quentin killed my arms.  They feel like long wet noodles right now.
