The weekend with Easter and a sick day

 Hi,

We had a good Easter break. We got the car back just before Easter from Gazely MG. Yay. And I did get out on Saturday night to Bella Italia with Sally and Andrew. 

Mike was a bit sick on Friday and Saturday he felt like rubbish. So we stayed home most of the time. Did some things around the house.

The CAT6 is finally in place. Mike opened up behind our bedroom wall and found the draw wires. And we attached the CAT6 and hauled it through to the attic space.

Egg rolling on Sunday

Sunday saw us walk up to the flax clearing in Otari Wilton bush to roll the eggs down a hill. We climbed up to close to the Skyline too.

Monday we went for a bike ride up to the Skyline. But my eBike MTB had a flat front shifter and what a faff to change the battery. Mike chopped a coin in half and that did the trick.

Then Monday evening I felt a scratchy throat. Sure enough, Tuesday morning I was a bit snuffly. I did go to garage gym with Quentin. But it was like walking in treacle. So I listened to Mike and took the day off.

He worked from home too. 

Wednesday morning is wet here. I am WFH and not sure I will do an entire day. Let's see.

The weekend with Easter

 Hi,

We have had a busy time over Easter. We stayed in Wellington but got a lot done while the weather was a bit rainy for some of it.

Wed and Thurs last week I was off at noho marae in Stokes Valley. Such a lovely marae. And I had another step change in my understanding of te ao Māori. Ka pai!

Back home and Good Friday was a chill day. I did do a gym session with Quentin and Toby joined me. We did dead lifts together. And after Quentin finished, Toby and I did a boxing session. Such fun with Toby.

We also went to visit Sarah, Hamish and Ryan for hot cross buns in the afternoon. Nom, nom.

We had trapline to do in April and Saturday was the best day weather-wise for us. Callan was keen to help - yippee.  Toby tagged along so I took him up Sunny Grove trapline. Then KAT. It took us the best part of 5.5 hours. We got 3 rats and a mouse. Toby really loved being out in the bush. It was hard work off track - we had to scout around for the markers to find the traps on the upper part of KAT.

Mike and Callan were just a tad behind us in the stream. We were up at KAT5 when Toby heard them down in the stream. We shouted to each other. By the time we finished KAT and got back to the track junction, I got a message that showed they were 20 minutes ahead of us. Got down to near the car and Mike walked up to find us. We walked the last 10 mins out together.

That night we were watching TV and I got up to go grab something and both adductors (and my left tibialis) all cramped at once. It was so sore I could not talk for a bit - and was crying. Mike and Toby had no idea what was happening. They were running around wondering if they needed an ambulance. But I finally stuttered out it was cramp. I ended up with electrolyte and water and a hottie from them. Awww.

Not fun.

Sunday and Monday saw lots of rain for us. And Mike had to study for a big exam coming up. So I decided to finally get the entrance painted. Monday I got the second coat on and we think that looks ok. Happy with the result. So that area is now all done!

PT session online this morning for me (Tuesday) with Quentin. Bench.  40kg. 4 x 4.  Not bad. Then a lot of arms and shoulders.

Working from home today. Toby is working with Ryan from midday today. Then pizza at our place with Ryan and his family for dinner.

It has been nephew's birthdays these last few days. Thinking of them. xx

The weekend with Easter in Dunedin

 Hi,

What a lovely weekend to Dunedin. So good to see Polly and Toby and get a few things done. Thanks to Ange for looking in on the cats too.

We flew down from Wellington on Wednesday night; Thursday saw us working from home at Polly's place. That worked fine. I was upstairs and Mike was in the extension downstairs. Toby arrived on his early morning flight from Christchurch and settled in.

It was cold! Brrrr.

Took a lunch break with everyone to No 7 Balmac. Mmmmm.

Good Friday saw us busy with skip loading. Polly had already done a lot on Thursday while we worked. But today we emptied the loft.

We found these bullets and gave them to Richard to store safely. He did some research. They were made in Melbourne. In Footscray. In 1942! Yeah - we don't know how they ended up in Polly's loft either.

We went to the museum and met Hamish and Ryan there. Loved looking around that place. And the iced latte got top marks.

Monday Toby wanted to explore gold fields. So we borrowed the Jazz and drove to Golden Progress Mine to poke around there. So good. There is a restored miner's cottage and a huge poppet head over the 45m deep mine shaft.

Went to see where the Brass Monkey Rally is held and then popped in for a lovely lunch. Cheese rolls for me. Mmmmm.

From lunch we headed to Nenthorn. I had never been there. It was great fun. Gravel road. We poked around at Nenthorn Conservation area. Not much there. An old hotel. That is about it. One other small building. No signs.

Then 40km from there to SH1 across excellent gravel roads with stunning views. There is a DoC campsite too not too far up from SH1. Remember that!

Back home to cook tea and then an early bed.

Up at 4.30am. Uber to the airport for our early flights to our respective homes.
