The Wednesday with no Mike

Hi,

Missing Mike as he wanders around Auckland, meeting friends, having dinner and maybe doing a bit of work.  I am going to assume some work got done and he just doesn't send me photos of that part!

I cooked tea when I got home last night and sent him a photo of what he was missing.  To lure him back to Wellington.  Food is the way to his heart, after all.

Iced coffee morning

This morning was teeming with rain - it started late last night.  So I took the bus in - and met up for brekkie at Little Peckish with Joycie and Bronwyn.  Had an iced coffee to start my day.

Vege option - on freekah.  What the heck is freekah?

Mike's chicken version - still on freekah!

Still wet outside.  But I hope to squeeze in a session at the gym and get home earlier than last night and cook tea faster.

I did get Toby to tidy his room a bit -and I did some washing for him.  Goodness knows how long some of that dirty washing was lying around.  I found a dinner plate in the wardrobe with dried up bread crusts on it.  Why was it in there??!!  At that point I gave up and wandered out of his room.  Found clothes in the spare room, obviously discarded from his person.  He's a little mini cyclone all on his own.

Right.  Mike will be home later tonight.  Yay!

Have an incredible day!  Enjoy whatever you do.

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with not much

Hi,

Mike met up with Andrew after work, so I headed home and cooked tea.  The dinner was beef sliced over chips and with broccoli and mushrooms on the side.  I had decided to start making my meals vegetarian after Jane Goodall's explanation of her vegetarian status resonated with me.  She just said how much of Earth's resources were used to raise a kilo of beef versus a kilo of grain.  And you know what?  She's right.  Now I make vegetarian options when I can.

To aid in that, I have hit upon haloumi cheese in place of the meat Mike and Toby eat.  And tonight it worked perfectly.

Haloumi version of dinner

And the beef one

My meal was absolutely scrumptious.  Mike got home late and ate his and said it was exceptional.  Funny!  It was just steak and potatoes and some vege.  Isn't he easy to please?

He's off to Auckland for two days for work now.  Left early this morning and was on his flight by 6.30am.  It's just me and Toby for tonight.  And I have told him we're tidying his room!

Weather is wet.  But not too cold.  Hope your day is a good one too.

Love,
Angela

The Monday with Celia back

Hi,

Celia has been away for nearly a whole month, celebrating life events with family on the other side of the world.  It was so nice to see her back at work yesterday.  She got me socks - and they made me feel very happy.  London Tube socks.  Mike was amazed when he saw them.  I think he's already planning a foot massage for me tonight just so he can lovingly caress the London Underground socks and reminisce.  Nothing to do with my incredible feet - and everything to do with checking if the new stops on the Jubilee line are there (there have been a few changes to the Tube in our absence).

I got socks - and these socks would never lie to me

I got an iced latte with Celia too.  Woot!  Nothing like some caffeine to make me bounce with energy.

Iced latte with one of my favourite people

Anyway, the day progressed and before I knew it, I was on the bus on the way home.  Mike timed it perfectly and he jumped on the same bus as me.  I love it when that happens.

We cooked tea - it was fish night.  I quite liked the tomato based sauce the fish baked in.  And the new potatoes were good with yoghurt and basil.

Fish dinner last night

Mucked around trying to haul the house into less disarray than it was already in.  Not sure I achieved that, but I did get ski gear rounded up, and two loads of laundry through the mighty cycle-of-washing.  A stranger entering the lounge may not discern any effort on my part - but believe me - I know what it looked like before it looks now!

Have a fantastic day!

Love,
Angela

The weekend with Mt Hutt and Ruapehu

Hi,

Ok - I had a great weekend!  Andrew and I met Mike and Toby at the car, and we dropped Mike and Toby at the train station for their Ruapehu adventure.  Andrew and I got to the airport with plenty of time to check in.

The flight was easy and we got to Chch and the rental car without any hassles.  A wee Toyota RAV4.  Very nice.  It's front styling looked like the stormtrooper on my t-shirt.

The airport now has a Countdown supermarket so we stocked up on breakfast stuff and milk and then headed to Methven.  Well, Pudding Hill.

Got into the room at a reasonable time (maybe 9.30pm?) and it wasn't long before I got into bed.  I had an allergic reaction though so spent quite a bit of time scratching before it subsided.

Up at 6am and the sunrise was amazing!  We excitedly got into ski gear and stuffed breakfast into us. Our plan was to meet my work colleagues at the bottom of the hill at 8am.  We wondered when the gates did open so I checked on the ski field website.

Really odd camera effect - sunrise behind me
It took a few reads of the "Skifield closed" sentence before I realised what it was saying.  Yep - no skiing today.  Closed all day due to strong winds.  Aaarrghh.

I contacted the work colleagues and they had switched their plans to Porter Heights for the day.  But by then Andrew and I had switched plans to tramping and were dressed for that.
Summit of Peak Hill
Our stormtrooper car - worked well

We drove up to Lake Colerdige (in from Windwhistle) and climbed Peak Hill.  The wind was terrific at the top.  Based on this being half the height of Mt Hutt, the wind up there today would have been impossible.  No wonder they closed the mountain.

Peak Hill was great.  A slog up from paddocks to a long ridge leading to the top.  Scraggy bushes of an alpine nature.  And wee skiffs of snow left behind from colder blasts and turned to ice.  It was fairly popular - we shared the hill with about 7 other people.  The views were stunning.

After that we checked out the shore of Lake Coleridge and then drove over to the Arthurs Pass road.  Despite the road closed sign.  Hahahah.

Back into Methven for lunch at Cafe 131 and back to Pudding Hill to read the afternoon away.  I tried to watch television with Andrew in the evening, but failed.  Horrible stuff on.

Up early again Sunday after falling asleep at 9pm!  The skiing was on!  Ooosshhh!  Strong winds might cause problems, but it should be ok.

Summit of Mt Hutt - looking over spectacular mountains

And it was!  Had a fantastic day!  Andrew and I checked out at 7am.  Woke everyone, including the cats and the kuni kuni pigs when we tried to pay.  Only to find out the payment had been made already.  Doh!  We left the chaos in our wake and headed to Mt Hutt.  I paid extra for First Tracks and skied from 8 - 9am on the Summit Six and had a blast.  Great snow conditions and no one there!

Andrew joined me for a few hours from 9.  We skied the Triple too.  But they closed the Summit for a bit and I skied the quad for a while.  Andrew was playing somewhere, doing crazy stuff.

I popped in for something to eat at 2pm and discovered I had lost my watch somewhere.  A few texts exchanged with Toby and I decided to follow his advice and ask the mountain staff.

Turns out they had someone hand it in!  Wow!  Must have only just happened because all I had done was go to the toilet, and buy some wedges for lunch.  Didn't leave much time for someone to find it and hand it in.  But they did!  Thank you!

Skied until 4pm and hauled myself into the car for a fast drive to Chch.  Checked the car in, then ourselves and waited for our 7pm flight.

Wonderful weekend!  Woot!

Hope the week ahead is a good one!

Love,
Angela

The Thursday with work that can only be described as pants

Hi,

The highlight of yesterday was definitely going home at the end of the day.  What a pants day.  Best to wipe the day off as a bad day from start to end and look forward to the ski weekend extravaganza!  Woot!

Off to Mt Hutt with Andrew tonight.  The weekend has strong winds forecast, but is clear.  So I hope the skiing is mighty fine.  Mike and Toby are away skiing too.  Mt Ruapehu is their destination.

Sweet. Gilbert ski bunnies.

Right.  A tonne of work to get through before Toby arrives here after school.  I'd better get stuck in.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with loads on

Hi,

Highlight of yesterday came at the start and end of the day.  I had brekkie with Steph (and bumped into Andrew on the way there!) and got an iced coffee.  This was a pretty good one - and had a wee chocolate fish.  I like that touch.

Happy with Little Peckish iced coffee

And the taste test passes well

Work was work.  And then I met James G at the pub for his leaving drinks.  Had a whole bunch of people there.  Sad face though.  I will miss him at work.

Met Mike on Lambton Quay and headed to the car.  I packed for the weekend when I got home.  All set to go.  Just finalising the logistics now.

Roll on Friday at 4.30!  Ooosshhh!

Angela

The Tuesday with an iced latte

Hi,

Ok - I did get away for a coffee with a work colleague who was having a birthday!  Woot!  Mike took an action shot of me slurping my iced latte at Machete.  Mmmmm.  Best iced latte around.

Iced latte

Sluuurrrrppp!

I did fit in a spin class at lunchtime.  Got home and cooked tea for Toby.  Mike got lucky with the weather for his evening tramp up Mt Kaukau.

Wee Toby was in fine form and declared the chicken nuggets I cooked up for him the best I have ever baked.  I didn't tell him they skated off the greased tray and into the sink full of dishwater so I had to wash them before baking them.  Sssshhhh!  Apparently Morning Fresh is good for chicken nuggets.

This morning is stunning in Wellington.  But frosty.  Brrrrrr.  I hope the weather stays good.  And I might fit in a spin class again, if I am lucky.

Have a wonderful day!

Love,
Angela

The Monday back at work after a ski weekend

Hi,

After such a great weekend, the Monday was a tough grind.  But I did get to the gym twice, so that is a good thing.

Toby met me at work at 4pm after school and I took him to get some sushi.  I worked for a bit longer before we brushed his teeth before his dental appointment.  That was super fast and before we knew it, we were outside Mike's work.  As we waited, we bumped into Mike's friend, Jennie, and chatted to her.  Caught up on her news (they are buying a house - in France!) before seeing Mike.

We bussed home on a 13.  Ooohhh.  A new experience for Toby.  And it was time for bed before too long.  I did get some laundry done.  I am away this weekend after all.  So I need to put a dent in it now.  Mike and Toby are heading to Ruapehu without me!

Right.  I need Rooibos at work - I have run out.  I think it might be the source of less job satisfaction than usual - I need my tea to enjoy the day even more!  Hahahah.  Shame my favourite brand is only at Countdown.  Doh!

Have a great day!

Love,
Angela

The weekend with work skiing

Hi,

What a great weekend.  Even if I did miss Toby for great portions of it.  Friday lunchtime saw Sreejith follow through on his commitment to the spin instructor to help take the class.  He was up front and centre and did soooooo well.  I couldn't have kept up that pace.  And he matched the instructor like they planned it!

Chenda and I left work and got our car out of Clifton Terrace and headed to the train station.  We put our gear in the van and headed to J'ville to swap to the van and collect the others.  Prasad and his family were in the van, along with Ariel and Gareth.

We had a slow drive up.  1 hour to Paekakariki.  Phew!  But we were in the lodge by 11pm.  After staying up to help Sreejith come up, it was 1am by the time I fell into bed.  And possibly drinking three cans of V in the evening wasn't my best idea.  I had to read for an hour before I fell asleep.

Up fairly early and away skiing.  I found Rex and Matt and skied with them for an hour before sticking to Tennants Valley for a while.  No crowds meant I could ski happily on the lower mountain and there was lovely snow.  But I headed up to the new Delta chair and enjoyed the Turtle run for the rest of the day.

Squinting against the sunshine!

Selfie having fun in the whiteout

Sreejith getting ready

And...with Scotty and they co-ordinate like they planned it!

By 2pm I was exhausted - never stopping for lunch or anything.  Wandered back to the lodge and read and maybe fell asleep for a bit.

Dinner was scrumptious.  Justin's wife Christelle and her friend cooked tea and Justin was the sous chef.  Roast vege, chicken and broccoli in mountains of cheese sauce with rice.  Mmmmm.

We headed down to Tussock at 7.30pm to meet the other work colleagues.  Sreejith has a 4WD Land Rover and it made light work of the thick snow.  But by the time we got to the pub, my workmates were leaving.

We headed back to their lodge and drank beer (well, some of us did), and played games.  Codenames is a new game I quite enjoyed.  I drove back up the hill and had fun trying to park in carpark 1 before giving up and going to carpark 2.

Another late night saw a late start to my ski day.  10am by the time I got my first run in.  But I headed up to Delta chair as soon as I could.  The sun came through a wee bit for my first few runs and the powder was fantastic!  Had a ball.

Came down early to help Mike with the packing up.  He had done pretty much everything so I got a well wanted shower.  It was slow getting everyone in the van and was 3.30pm by the time we left.  Picked up Chenda from the F&B lodge and headed home.

Prasad's wee daughter was car sick a lot.  Poor wee thing.  But she would puke into a bag her dad held, and then be chirpy happy enough.  Back home and I picked up groceries before collecting Mike from Lower Hutt where he had dropped off the van.

Awesome weekend!  Can't wait for more skiing now.  Better wash my gear - I have another trip this coming weekend to Mt Hutt with Andrew.  Woot!

Love,
Angela

The Thursday with bits and pieces

Hi,

I got chocolates at work today!  Thanks Ed.  And Sally (at work) said I should try the purple one.  To match my shirt.  Done!

Purple chocolate with purple shirt

Got home late but Mike jumped on the same late bus as me.  We cooked tea together and then it was time for bed.  The chicken katsu was pretty good.  Mike has leftovers for lunch.

Chicken katsu

Off to Ruapehu after work today for the work ski trip.  Woot!  Weather looks pants though.  Hopefully I get some skiing in.

Have a lovely weekend.

Angela

The Wednesday with not much but I did get to the gym

Hi,

Mike had some crazy day yesterday that finally ended at 2am this morning.  Jeepers!  He will be having coffee injected to get him through the day today.

My day was busy too.  But I did get to the gym after work to make up for a lack of space during the day to get any exercise in.  The after work spin class is 60 minutes of effort (the lunch ones are 45 mins).  That extra 15 mins does make a difference.  It's a bit tough slogging through a full hour.

I got home and Mike had sorted pizza for Toby.  He was happy with his lot in life.  Chomping on pizza and sipping fizzy drink.  Hahahah.  Way better than what his mother cooks him usually.

I packed for the ski weekend.  So tonight I can pop my gear into town for our Friday getaway efforts.  Although how I get from work to the train station with all the gear is still slightly nebulous.

Did some laundry (because I am away for the weekend, it needs to be done along the way or there will be a mountain of laundry by Sunday night).

I got some chocolates from a colleague who just got back from a quick trip to the UK.  How sweet!

Right.  Time for the day to turn crazy.

Have a good one!

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday that felt like Thursday

Hi,

Like a Thursday, but without the purple shirt.  Seriously, how does a week do that?  Anyway, let's see.  How did my fake Tuesday pan out?

Busy working day, but I did carve out an hour for Spin.  I would like to say Sreejith joined me, but the instructor shouted at one point to remind him to scratch Sreejith's name off the attendee list because he spent more time outside on his phone than on the bike.  Hahahah.

Got home (with my skis that I had carried in - couldn't find the bindings I wanted) and cooked tea for Toby.  Mike had an evening tramp on - with dinner afterwards.  Cool idea and somehow the weather co-operated.

I think that's about it for my Tuesday.  Nothing too unusual in the scheme of things.  Normal, normal.  I am looking forward to the weekend - it's the work ski trip.  Not that the snow is any good or the forecast looks great.  But an excuse to get in the snow and grab a run or two finally.  Woot!  I haven't had a season start this late for me in years.

Enjoy your day!

Love,
Angela

The Monday at work

Hi,

What a day.  And it was only a normal working day.  Felt like two.  I kept trying to remember if it was Wednesday today or not.  No - it's not.  Hahahah.

I got home and started dinner.  Toby was feeling much better although he was asleep on the couch when I got home.  Fish cakes for tea.  I liked them quite a lot and Mike has them in his lunch today.

Fish cake dinner

Weird sauteed broccoli with peas as a side dish.  Tasted ok if I screwed up my eyes and pretended the peas weren't in there.

The evening disappeared in a blur and I was in bed before I knew it.  But something went wrong and I didn't sleep very well.  I think I slept better than I did.  I don't feel too out of it.

Wet here today.  Yucky wet.

Right - time for tea and to get really stuck in.  As opposed to this pre-tea work that is trying to get the day into shape, but work gets getting in the way of the work.  How does that happen?  Weirdness.

My new skis are here with me at work.  I need to take them in for new bindings.  Oooohhh.  They are gorgeous.

Have a brilliant day.

Love,
Angela

The weekend in Wellington with Beervana for Mike

Hi,

We watched a movie together on Friday night at home.  Drive - I think that was what is was called.  Very violent.  Made me squeal at one point.  The boys both thought it was good.

A pint of home made iced coffee

Saturday saw me and Mike off to town for brekkie at Americanos and then me to the spa for an appointment and Mike off to work before his Beervana fun with Andrew and Josh.

I got a lot of drunken texts and photos as the day progressed.  Mike got home at 6.45 or so and was full of praise for the event as well as exhausted and wanted to go to bed.  Hahah.  I made him watch a movie with me before we fell asleep at a far more sensible time.

Sunday was a lazy day for me.  Laundry and reading.  Mike did taxes.  It took him over 8 hours.  Sounded hideous.

Monday morning saw me at yoga for the 5th week in a row.  Not sure I am improving but today, for the last ten minutes, we lay on our backs with the lights out and our eyes closed.  Totally happy with that form of yoga!   "Just relax" she says.  "Zzzzzzz", I say.

Toby is off sick with a cold today.  Hopefully he is good to go to school tomorrow.

Enjoy your week.

Angela

The Thursday with Mike coming back

Hi,

I managed to get away for a nice lunch with Sally M (from work) and she then took me to the City Gallery for some relief from the working day.  There was an exhibition of 100 chairs.  I quite enjoyed that.

Guitar chair

Iced coffee @ Home with Mike

This was way cool!

Also checked out some art work that was computer based.  I rather enjoyed that too.  I took a photo of it and timed it for the dolphin leaping out of the water.

Went to the gym after work and then walked to Hong Kee Chinese restaurant to meet Mike in his taxi coming back from the airport.  Got home and cooked some tea for Toby.

Busy, busy.  But nice to collapse into bed at the end of it all.

The weekend is coming.  Not quite fast enough, but it is coming.  Mike has Beervana fun and games.  That is about it for organised things.

Hope your weekend is fun.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with no Mike

Hi,

What an odd day yesterday without Mike around.  I did get to see two Andrews for an iced latte treat that was entitled "How to become a super athlete over an iced latte" by Andrew No. 1.  The Andrew No. 2 works with him and has a background in long distance triathlons and other endurance events.  He imparted some wisdom to me as I train up for Taupo.

Main things I noted were:

1.  I need to either train longer than the distance - or - train faster than the distance.  That was a good takeaway for me.

2.  I need a baseline of my resting heart rate to compare.  If I can talk while exercising, my rate is under.  If I can talk but I am breathless, my rate is good.  If I can't talk, my rate is over.  And get my standard and use that in training.

3.  Start now!

I like that saying I have seen recently.  "The best time to plant trees is twenty years ago.  The second best time is now."  [Disclaimer: I may be paraphrasing ]    Exercise is the same.

Toby came into work briefly after school for a sushi run.  He didn't enjoy the sushi as the woman made it with cucumber instead of avocado like we asked.  Doh!  He picked it out and managed to eat it.

I went to Spin after work (it is a 60 min session) and this instructor was evil.  No let up for the whole 60 mins.  Maybe he also subscribes to the longer and faster training method.  Certainly worked for me.  I am going again after work today.

I got home and cooked tea for Toby.  Chicken schnitzels.  Yum!

Mike went out on the town with friends in Auckland.  And sent me photos to make me jealous.  Hahahah.  Looked like fun.  He is due home this evening.

The King of Navarre got on our bus this morning.  Toby and I jumped for our phones to text Mike.  Such an exciting start to the day!  Woot!

Have an awesome day.

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with loads of stuff

Hi,

My days are passing in a blur.  Two days at work and it already feels like it should be Thursday.  Anyway, I managed to get to the gym for a run yesterday and went faster than I have for ages.  Yay.  Worked late and then thought I had missed the bus I try to aim for if I catch the bus home.  But it was running late so I made it on there easily.

When I told Toby about how I was running late for the bus, he was astonished.  Said that he had never ever heard of me running late.  Hahahah.  He's funny.

Anyway, I cooked tea for him and eventually got into bed.  Mike got home from working late and going to a tramping meeting and the dentist (how does he squash this all into his day?).  He's off to Auckland for two days with work.  Hope it's drier there.  It won't be.

I'm going to try the spin class after work today.  See what that's like (it is 15 mins longer than the lunch time classes - that much I do know).  So I'll be home late.  But it'll be nice to catch the bus in with Toby tomorrow morning.  We like doing that because it's a novelty.

I think I need a cup of tea.  And to do some planning of my day's activities.

Enjoy your day.

Love,
Angela

The weekend with Mike off for a day trip skiing

Hi,

We were in bed fairly early Friday night - although the boys watched Cabin in the Woods together so they weren't in bed quite as early as me.

Mike was up at 3.20am to get ready for his day ski trip to Turoa.  He managed to eat Weetbix and I made him a coffee to send him on his way.  It was kinda nice to head back to bed and sleep for a bit longer.

I headed out to the gym Saturday morning and tried my first 60 minutes spin class.  And picked up groceries on the way home.

Toby and I had a day of tidying.  Laundry.  And general tidying up.  I cooked tea for us at the end of the day.  Roast veges and steak.

Roast veges with steak

Mike got home around 10.30pm (or maybe a tad later) and crashed into bed.  He had a marvellous day!

Sunday saw us up fairly early and then I dropped Mike at work and headed to the gym for another spin class.  Back home and the weather had really closed in.  It was yucky.

Mike got back around tea time and collected Toby for dinner with Josh and the boys followed by a move - Dunkirk.  Harrowing was how Mike described it.

An early morning into work with the car as it was MotoGP morning.  Yoga for me.  What a way to start the working week.

Enjoy your week ahead.  I think Mum and Dad get back home this week from their Canadian adventure.  I hope I get to see some pics from that.

Love,
Angela

The Thursday with a walk home again

Hi,

It was purple shirt Thursday yesterday and my work colleagues were out in force with their purple-ness!  I kept the two photos in here because the first one looks great!  Me pointing out where to look, and that there was a finger in the way!  Hahahah

Watch the camera!

And posing!

One of those purple shirts is not quite like the others.  Hahahah.

Anyway, after work I rode my bike to Mike's work and we walked home again.  It was lovely.  The rain stayed away.  I cooked tea when I got home, although in my haste to eat the yummy chicken with roast veges on coconut rice with a mango/lime glaze, I forgot to take a photo.  It was good!

I lay on the couch reading for a bit, and Mike joined me, watching some video on his phone.  He realised I wasn't answering his questions at one point and thought my book must be engrossing.  But when he checked me out, I was fast asleep!  On the couch!  Weird.  Apparently I slept for 30 minutes before Mike took pity on me and woke me up and told me to go to bed.  I was instantly comatose once I got into bed too.  Maybe the walking tires me out?

The weekend beckons.  Mike looks to be heading to Turoa with Andrew and other friends for the day tomorrow.  Woot!  Otherwise, I hope to get a ride in.

Have an awesome weekend.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with a walk home with Mike and coffee with Andrew

Hi,

The highlight of the actual working hours portion of my day was meeting Andrew for a coffee catch up at my local favourite cafe.  Turns out that Andrew's colleagues also like this cafe.  Hahah.

Machete iced latte - so close to a 10/10

I heard about his tramp last weekend (in the snow on the tops) and about some exciting things planned for later this winter and into the summer months.

After work finished, I rode my bike to Mike's work and we walked home together from there.  Such a great chat.  I am hoping the weather co-operates and we can do it again this evening.

Wee Toby isn't well though.  He had yesterday off and got a migraine last night.  So I suspect he is at home again today.

Right.  Time to tackle the day.  Hope you have a good one!

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with Celia leaving for a long holiday

Hi,

I didn't actually think it was possible to be more busy at work, but yesterday seemed to take things to a new level.  My mind now has images of me being a cricketer and just batting things back to the bowler to try and keep things ticking over.  As opposed to the images of me smashing things through for a six.  Those are just dreams right now.  Trouble with just straight batting back to the bowler is the score doesn't increase.  Unless the bowler makes a mistake, I guess.  Ok - see?  I can live in hope.  Bwhahahahah!

Anyway, Celia left for her big holiday overseas.  She is going to have so much fun.  Diving off the coast of Cornwall is in her itinerary.  How cool is that?  Wow!  And a wedding.  And family stuff.  But just being back in the UK will be loads of fun.

I met Toby at work and we wandered down to the dentist.  His teeth are all good, but we have an appointment in a week or so to seal some natural fissures in his teeth.  No fillings or anything.  We do have to make an orthodontist appointment though.  His front teeth might be in danger of moving out a bit.

After that Toby and I walked back to the GP and met Mike and his bunch of tramping mates.  Had a drink and then Ubered back home.  Toby wasn't very well when he went to bed.  Actually, I think Mike and I fell asleep and Toby woke us at 11pm saying he needed some Panadol.  I thought I'd been asleep for hours and it was 3am.  Very surprised to see the time.  Went straight back to sleep and slept like the dead until the alarm.  With Mike's phone talking the entire night about science stuff.  Never heard a thing!  Weird.

Nice ride into work this morning.  Threatened rain and it may have rained a bit earlier.  But the wind had dried things out nicely.  It's supposed to clag in though.  Let's see what happens.

Have a wonderful day.

Love,
Angela

The Monday at work

Hi,

Today is Karen's birthday!  Woot!  How cool is that?  I hope she has a great day.  And I can't believe it is August already.  Mad.

I managed to catch up with Mary for a drink before she heads away to help her husband this week and then fly to a friend's wedding in Bangladesh.  Wow - what a crazy few weeks she has in store.

Wild hair for my iced latte

I do like the coffee at this place.  I have since found the name out.  It is called Machete and has awesome coffee - and tacos.  Ok.  If the coffee is anything to go by, the tacos will be good!

I met Mike after work and we drove to Toby's school and attended the parent teacher interviews there.  Turns out that all his teachers have recommended he picks up the subjects again next year for NCEA.  Except for music.  That teacher says Toby hasn't got the passion to practise for hours and be a maestro.  Oh.  But possibly history, stats, science and english are on his list.

Right.  Time to get stuck in.  My day is shaping up to be bedlam.  What else is new?

Love,
Angela
