The Wednesday back at work

Hi,

Well, that was a Wednesday that felt like a Monday, right?  I was busy from go to woah!  Or was that "woe"?  Hahahah.

Mike went out with Sally and Andrew after work to celebrate Mike's birthday.  But I went home to cook tea for Toby and make sure he was ok.  It had nothing to do with me needing lots more sleep.  Honest!

I made turkey mince stir fry and it was so good.  But I stupidly forgot to take a photo.  Sally won't believe me.  Toby didn't like it that much, unfortunately.  But I thought it was tasty.  Mike has it for lunch today - let's see what he thinks.

I then went out grocery shopping because the boys were living on ...  Not sure what because there wasn't much in the fridge/pantry for lunches.  Mike met me at the supermarket after his dinner out and helped me home and to unpack the groceries.  Then it was off to bed for me.  After some laundry was sorted, of course.  Glad we have a weekend at home this weekend to try and get the house knocked into shape.

Time for a cup of tea, I think.  I'll go to the gym at 4pm today and then head home and cook tea.  Lamb tonight.  Mmmmm.  I love the lamb meals.  And maybe pick on a room in the house and tidy it.  Any room will do, because they all need some attention.

Have a wonderful day.  Last day of June.

Love,
Angela

The long weekend in Queensland

Hi,

What a lovely weekend.  I stupidly went to sleep at 1am on Friday night (ok - technically that is Saturday morning) and was actually awake for the decent earthquake at 12.40am.  It also meant that when my alarm went off at 3am, it was a very groggy person that stumbled out of bed.

I drove to the airport and took a photo of where I left the car.  Mike had car keys and would drive it home on Sunday evening when he returned with Toby.

Location photo of the car - outside Jetstar

My flight to Brisbane went fast - mainly because I could barely keep my eyes open.  Hahah.  I had a row to myself so I could squirm around to get comfortable.  I picked up the car at the airport and headed off.

I got lost again.  I was so worried I'd stay on the M1 and miss my exit for the Sunshine Coast that I got off too early and ended up driving around Caloudra (or something like that).  Fortunately I recognised some names of places and eventually ended back on the road I needed.  It was just a 30 min diversion.

Soon I was knocking on the door of my parents' house and surprising Mum with the "special delivery" she was waiting for.  Me!

I was a bit shattered so we didn't do very much really.  Checked out the local supermarket and the sushi shop.

I was stunned to see local roadworks signs saying that work would commence when the weather improved.  Obviously to me, it was hard to fathom improving on this weather.  When I saw "Work will commence" I thought it would go on to say "July 1st" or "mid July" or something.  Not "when the weather improves".  Made me laugh.

Work will commence
When the weather improves

Monday Mum and I decided to explore north and we drove to Bundaberg for fun.  It was a 7 hour drive there and back.  We toured the distillery and I now know more about rum than I did before.

I reckon this looks like an animal

For Mum's birthday we went out to Hastings St in Noosa and enjoyed a brunch there.  A birthday box arrived with balloons and stuff.  And at one stage the waiter picked it up and walked towards Mum.  Given it was her birthday, it was a huge surprise to the waiter to see her face light up so he leapt away with the birthday box.  And was very surprised to hear it was Mum's birthday as well as some mystery patron we never met.

Back home and chilled out before driving back to the airport for my flight home.  I hope no one asks me anything complicated today.  Not much sleep.  Mike collected me from my flight which was a good 30 mins early.  When I texted Mike I had landed he was still in bed.

I was outside by 12.05am.  And waited only 10 mins for Mike.  Yay.

Took the bus in with the boys this morning.  We saw the King of Navarre.  She exists.  And she said something to Mike too.

Have a lovely week.  The boys enjoyed their Dunedin weekend jaunt too.

Angela

The Thursday seeing Mike and Toby off south

Hi,

Had a busy day and then Toby forgot to come to my work after school.  He texted me from Kelburn on the bus.  So I asked him to jump off and catch the next bus back into town.  He did well and by the time I got the car and collected Mike, Toby was not too far away at all.  We did a drive-by collection of him from a bus stop on The Terrace and off to the airport we went.

I left the boys at their gate and I heard from them when they landed in Christchurch.  And again when they got their rental car.  Their assigned Toyota Corolla was missing, so they have a huge Highlander 4WD.  I think they both like it.  Last I heard was a midnight text from the top of Mt Cargill.  They were going to sleep in the car there before heading into Dunedin the next morning.  Yes - my boys are funny!
Last night's road trip

Toby sleeping in the boot this morning

Meanwhile, I went home and ate cheese for dinner.  Mmmmmm.  Hahahah.  Did some housework and read a book.

Up to come into work this morning.  On the bus.  And it is a beautiful day!  Happy to see a lovely sunny morning.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday in Auckland

Hi,

Well, yesterday was a bit different from my normal work day.  I flew up to Auckland and chilled out with the Auckland office and a few Auckland clients.

Our plane was kept circling Auckland for 20 minutes as the poor weather meant the control tower wanted to space the plane out more.  Shame it was so cloudy - you couldn't see anything.

But I finally was on the ground and caught a taxi into town.  The traffic was supposedly light.  Ok.  Hahahah.  Got to work at 9.20am.  Settled in and then into my crazy meeting schedule.

Had a two hour client meeting that went well.  Then a quick lunch with the guys in the office before more meetings and another client meeting.  Woot!

It was great to sort out a few things.

After my last client meeting, I caught a taxi through peak hour traffic to Roz's house.  Had a nice cup of tea and then off to a restaurant near the airport for some yummy food.  Thanks Roz!  She dropped me at the airport and I waited for my bumpy flight to Wellington.

Mike collected me and I was fast asleep before too long.

We drove into work this morning because the boys are off to Dunedin this evening after work.  Busy weekend.

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with nothing much

Hi,

I think every blog might be starting with "Pants, I forgot to take a photo of our dinner".  Hahah.  My intended gym session at 4pm was delayed.  It was kinda ironic as the client delaying me was the gym.  As we signed off at the meeting, I said I had just missed my gym session.  The client said I should just go to a later one.

So I texted Mike and said I would be late.  And I went to some diabolical 30 minute Sprint session that left me sweating buckets.  Jeepers.  Such fun though.

Rode home and had no legs.  Hahah.  Obviously I need more.

Mike and I cooked tea.  It was yummy lamb.  I have decided I like the lamb and fish meals the best.

Fell into bed and slept like the dead until the alarm went off.  Jumped out of bed, and had Mike ask what sort of weirdo person I was that can just get up as soon as the alarm goes off.  I got ready and grabbed a taxi to the airport.

And now I am sitting at work in Auckland.  Huge day ahead.  Busy, busy.  And a late flight into Wellington.  I land at 9pm.

I love Auckland.  I feel like a tourist.

Have a brilliant day.  I get to see Roz briefly tonight.  Yay!

Love,
Angela

The Monday with gym day

Hi,

Pants - I forgot to take a photo of our dinner for Sally.  I went to the gym at 4pm and killed my legs in a RPM class.  Headed back to work and got a little involved in a few things before riding home.  At least the rest between the gym session and riding home meant my legs carried me happily up the hill.

I also noticed (again) the wine bottle in the basement that Mike left there on his last day at work here.  So I took a photo to show him.

Mike memories

Yes, the basement is really attractive.  I certainly wouldn't go anywhere near it unless I needed to.

Anyway, I cooked the fish up for tea last night.  I was late getting started because Mike put away the ingredients and I couldn't find the red Thai paste.  We ended up with Malaysian redang fish curry.  Tasted ok to me.  And it was kinda reddish.  Sort of.  Toby loved the fish.  He wasn't thrilled with the cabbage and spinach vermicelli noodles.  But I liked it all.

And when Mike got home and had some, he also liked it.  So, there you go.

After my tea, before Mike got home, I wandered around the house trying to find Toby's cellphone charger.  I usually find everything.  Not this time.  Finally I looked under the couch in the lounge, getting down on my hands and knees - and stayed curled up on the carpet, contemplating the disappearance of things.  That was where Mike found me as he got home.  Hahah.  At least it garnered lots of sympathy for my complete desolation.  So Mike put his powerful mind to the problem and found the charger.  And he sorted out a few other things niggling at me (I just can't quite remember them right now - something about the wardrobe comes to mind).  So he went to bed feeling smug and worthwhile.

Right.  I am off to Auckland for the day tomorrow.  So no blog tomorrow.  I could outsource it to Mike, but I suspect you might be waiting for a while.  Mind you, I know a lot of you enjoy Mike's early morning stories about having to rush for buses and chase them in the car.

Have a lovely day.  I beat the rain into work.  I'm happy.

Love,
Angela

The weekend in Wellington

Hi,

We had a lovely weekend in Wellington after some weekend madness since - oh - I don't know - forever!  It was nice to only have a few things on and to get a few things done around and about the place.

We got up on Saturday and went into town to see the Unfolding the Map exhibition.  I loved it!  Spent ages looking at the maps they exhibited.

Big felt map of NZ

Hello Dunedin!

Where I like to be!

I quite enjoyed this exhibition.  Mike got some archived WTMC newsletters from mid 1970s from the library archives and was distracted by that.

Looking for Mt Hutt, I believe

From there we went to the SPCA to look at kittens and get adoption papers.  We're going to get a kitten for Mike's birthday in two weeks time.  We're going to get to the SPCA at 10am on a Saturday and select the kitten of Mike's dreams.  We came so close to getting the last wee sad kitten that was there when we arrived late on Saturday.  A wee pale ginger girl.  But Mike wasn't keen on getting one this weekend because we're all away the following weekend.  And she was the last kitten left.

We managed to drag ourselves away.  Toby and I got Mike into the puppy section, but he only stayed there 2 mins.  When Toby and I left to find him, he was in with the adult timid cats, on the floor, giving them some love.

Mike really loves cats.

Back home for a quiet night.

Up Sunday to meet Christine at Te Papa with her friends for an awesome Matariki session - featuring Kai.  We just missed a My Kitchen Rules style event with titi (muttonbird) but watched a great session on clean kai for the whanau.  Green smoothies.  Lots of puha and silverbeet and green stuff.  I tried kawakawa tea.  Dribbled that over myself at one point.

Clean kai

We eventually left and went to help Josh move a couch from upstairs to downstairs.  It was such a big couch it had to go outside the house and back in the front door.  But - ummmmm.  The doorway was too small for the huge couch.

So Mike and Josh decided they needed to take the window pane out in the porch (it was an internal window).  Turned into an epic furniture move.

Time to take the window pane out

And now what?!
But wouldn't you know it?  After that pane came out, it really did fit in.  But it was a close run thing.  If it had been 5 cm longer, I suspect it would still be upstairs.

Josh nearly took the front door off to get the last few centimetres in.  But a little maneuvering managed to get the couch in.

Tidied up and went home quickly to iron and get a few things sorted.  Then off to meet Josh and the boys for Mexican at La Boca Loca and then to see Independence Day (the original one) at the Roxy.  Woot!  Awesome fun.

Back home and a grateful crash into bed.  Up this morning to run into work.  I met Sally at her coffee shop and we chatted for a bit.  We're going to try to catch up this week for dinner out somewhere.

Have a wonderful week.

Love,
Angela

The Thursday with Mike's birthday

Hi,

I hope Mike would say he had a great birthday if you asked him.  He was certainly in a good mood the entire day.

I was supposed to have birthday lunch with him, but I had work issues crop up so I had to miss it.  Fortunately Fran joined him and I think Mike had a lovely time with her.  I heard all about it from him, so obviously he was pleased to see her.

I am hoping to get lunch with him today - but I won't blog about it because his plans might change.  Hahah.

I went to the gym after work, but ended up back at work to clear up a few things before dragging Mike away from birthday drinks with his mates and heading home with the car.

We cooked tea - it was Bearnaise steak with hand cut chips and stir fried broccoli and mushrooms.  I liked it and and I think Mike thought it was a perfect birthday meal.  I had bought a chocolate cake from Pandoro on impulse so we had birthday cake.  And Toby and I sang Happy Birthday loudly.  And off key.  Mike had You Tube also sing Happy birthday.

Yummy tea!

We chatted to my mother on the phone for a while - until her phone went flat unexpectedly.  It was so nice to hear her and chat about things.

Then off to bed and Mike was asleep very quickly.  The day must have crept up on him.  Hahah.

Today is not Mike's birthday.  But you know something?  It wasn't yesterday that made Mike special.  It's all the other days in the year that are special because of Mike.

It's Friday!  Yay.  Can't wait for the weekend.  A Wellington weekend.  Bring it on!

Have a great weekend too!

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with tramping club night

Hi,

Happy birthday to Mike!

We're having some nice weather again - yesterday I went for a lunch time run in just my t-shirt.  Unheard of for mid June.

Rode home and sorted out Toby before heading in for a map session a the tramping club.  Mike had just got there so I found him and chatted to Jan for a bit.

Look what I took a photo of this morning (someone asked to see a wedding photo).

I married a male model

I got everyone up early this morning because it is Mike's birthday.  He opened his presents from me and Toby and even got coffee in bed!

I rode into work and had breakfast with Steph and Bronwyn from work.  It was Bronwyn who wanted to see the wedding evidence - hahahah.

I'll have lunch with Mike today at 1pm (come and join us at Verve on Lambton if you can).  And maybe try and bake a cake for the weekend.

Have a fantastic day.  Like Mike will!

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with no action replay of Monday with Mike

Hi,

Who is a birthday boy tomorrow?  Mikey Mike - that's who!

Ok - it is entirely possible that my gym work is doing something, because my legs are feeling like they have done some work.

I did get out for my June iced coffee with Rex and Jo.  However, Rex ordered a decaf iced coffee and we think that they switched our drinks.  Rex was bouncing off the walls all day after that and I never felt a thing.  Given both of us never drink caffeine, you'd think I would notice something and Rex would be unaffected.  But, no!  Rex on caffeine is funny.  He was running everywhere inside the office.

Mixed business

I went to a RPM class at 4pm yesterday and pummeled my legs into submission.  Then I rode home and realised it was tough work getting back up the hill.

I made tea - cauliflower and macaroni cheese.  I quite liked it, but Toby wasn't a fan.  Mike got home late and did eat some and declared it pretty good.  I'm glad because it is his lunch today.

Mac cheese

Today is a quieter day on the exercise front.  I rode into work with lovely weather.  It's a bit windy, but the skies are clear.  It's not cold either.  But I have a lunch time run planned.  Then a ride home.

Let's home that is a bit of recovery for my legs.  Hahahah.

We're off to the tramping club night tonight.  It's a special on maps.  I love maps.  Come and watch it with me!

Have a brilliant day.

Love,
Angela

The Monday with fun with Mike

Hi there,

Well, I had a good day.  Work got in the way, but even that was mostly good.  Hahah.  I ran into work and had an alright day.  Then I left bang on 4pm to go to the gym and have a virtual RPM class.  I was far from virtually tired when I finished that.  I was actually tired.  Then I rode home and enjoyed that - although there wasn't a lot left in the tank, I have to say.

Lemon pepper chicken with kumara mash - and beans!
But, when I got home, Mike wasn't far behind me.  I managed to clean the bathroom (a weekend chore usually - but our weekends are pretty frantic lately and I never got to do it last weekend) before he got home.  And do some washing.  Apparently it is the "circle of washing", according to Mike.  Like "The Lion King", but with no singing.

But, when he got home, we cooked tea together.  Lemon Pepper Chicken, with kumara mash (with chopped baby spinach through it) and beans (with a bit of zucchini).  I ate everything.  Even the mountain of beans Mike gave me.  And I don't like beans.  It was fun.

Then I convinced Mike he should have a bath with me.  So we chatted away while enjoying the warmth of the bath.  Mike didn't want to get out.  If he could have figured out how to sleep there and stay warm and not drown, he might have done so.

But I wandered off to bed with Mike.  He worked a little but I fell asleep.  And had the best sleep I have had in ages.  Usually I wake before my alarm - even in the weekends.  But I slept without waking until my alarm squawked in my ear.  Heaven!

Rode in and it was a lovely morning.  But I need to switch my bike's tyres over to road tyres.  These knobblies are not as much fun on the road as they are on dirt.

Got another RPM class after work today.  Then home to cook tea again.  Expect an action replay blog tomorrow.  Hahahah.

Have the best day ever!

Love,
Angela

The weekend in the Wairarapa

Hi,

Well, it was a pleasure to help celebrate someone's birthday (Teri - friends of Ange's and Celia's really) over the weekend in the Wairarapa.  Someone that can embrace the birthday experience a bit more like I do.  This was huge!

Mike, Toby and I got home on Friday after work (after saying goodbye to Eugen - it was his last day at work) and finished packing and headed off.  The drive over the Rimutaka Hill was really horrible.  Windy and raining.  We passed an overturned car heading back to Wellington on the Wellington side of the hill.  Looked like it had just happened.  Plenty of people stopping to help, so we threaded our way through the stopped cars and kept going.  I took it even more carefully after that.  On one corner on the Wairarapa side a huge gust had me fighting the car a fair bit.  I was glad to get off the hill.

We found our accommodation and we all instantly fell in love with the place.  Toby said it was just like Luke Skywalker's house on Tatooine.  He was right, you know.

Lounge

Kitchen behind

There were two bedrooms off the main lounge - one to the right (Toby's) and one to the left.  And each had an en-suite.  One had a shower (ours) and one had a bath (Toby's).

We settled in and I went to bed fairly quickly.  Toby stayed up to watch Wayne's World.

The boys approach the house
Awesome breakfast at Medici
Next morning we got up to have brekkie at Cafe Medici where I have had a few meals previously.  Yum!  Then back to relax before Mike and I went for a bike ride.

That cute church again

My shadow

Wairarapa scenery

From there we rode to Columbo and enjoyed some wine and food with Teri and all her friends.  Such a lovely afternoon in the sun with good company.

Back to the house to make sure Toby was surviving fine.  He was.  Then off to buy some meat for the BBQ dinner.  Huge event spread over multiple houses.  Watched the first half of the rugby before Toby and I headed home to watch the second half.  Turns out our Sky subscription didn't cover Sports.  Doh!

Read lots while Toby watched TV.  Mike got home and they both watched TV while I continued reading.

Off to bed.  Slept well, but stupidly stayed awake until 2am reading.  And it was a howling gale when I woke at 6am so I went back to sleep instead of going for another ride.

We got up and packed and then met everyone at the Village Cafe.  We enjoyed another brekkie before heading back to Wellington.  The rain was fierce through the Hutt Valley.  I went out grocery shopping in more rain later.  Got some ironing done.

What a lovely weekend.  We want to head back to that house again.  Such a wonderful house.

Have a great week ahead.  It's a long weekend in Australia.  Happy Queens Birthday.

Love,
Angela

The Thursday with dinner out

Hi,

It's a happy birthday day.

Well, after a day at work best left at work, I went to the gym with Sreejith for a 4pm Virtual RPM class.  It was such a hard workout.  I really enjoy it.  I hope I get to see some improvement.  The slogan on the wall of the RPM class says:  It doesn't get easier, you just get better.  But that might be still a wee way off.

Dubious present from Mike.  Natural V?  What is that?

After work I popped into the local pub to try and get Mike.  But it turned out that people I knew were there.  So I chatted to them while Mike chatted in his meeting int he table behind me.

From there, we went to Chow and met Ferrida, Sarah and Liz.  Liz was over for work and it was good to see Ferrida.  I don't think I've seen her for 9 years or something.  We need to fix that.

We had a great meal and chatted away for ages.  Before we knew it, it was quite late.  So Sarah drove us home - thanks Sarah!

Today is hosing down rain.  And so windy.  We have to go home and pack for our weekend away in the Wairarapa.  Can't wait.  Bringing the bikes.  Meeting up with friends.  Should be great.

Have a brilliant day and an even better weekend.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with Celia celebrating and an Iceland adventure

Hi,

The weather held out for another lovely day.  Still really cold though.  I spent most of yesterday at work quite freezing.  My fingers never really worked well.

But, towards the end of the day, Celia got news her house sold.  So, at the end of the day, when Toby had arrived, we went into the local pub and celebrated with a drink.

Bubbles for Celia

Selling a house seems to move you from one stressful state to another, really.  Now Celia has to clear the house because settlement happens to be when she is on holiday in Fiji.  Jeepers!  Hopefully we can help her in the next few weeks with moving stuff if she needs it.

From there, Christine came and grabbed me and said a quick hello before we caught to bus to Capitol.  Mmmmm.  I bet Mum remembers that restaurant.  We both had the Wagyu rump steak.  And the chocolate fondant dessert.  Scrumptious.

Then I met Mike and Toby (again) and we went to the tramping club for a session on someone's trip to Iceland.  I love Iceland.  Definitely made me want to visit again.  This time for longer.  We've been twice, but only for long weekends.  You can do that from London!  Not here!  Hahahah.

We ubered home and I had a restless sleep.  Oh well.  Time for tea and hopefully I'll come right.

We're off to dinner again tonight to meet Liz.  She's over for work briefly and tonight is the only night we have free to see her.

Have an awesome day.

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday back at work after a long weekend

Hi,

After a super early start to the day with an RPM class at 6.30am I was at my desk and showered by the usual time.  Yay!  I met Mike briefly for a coffee date before he started work, which was nice.

After a day at work, it was really nice to ride home.  The lack of wind made the ride really enjoyable.  I got home and started cooking tea for me and Toby.  Another My Food Bag meal.  Fish this time.  Toby loved the fish.  Didn't so much like the "slaw" (in fact, he never even tried that) and didn't eat the chips either (kumara and potato chips).  But he loved the fish.  Mike was lucky to even get some.

Fish n chips

Mike got home while I was in the bath and joined me.  Then I was off to bed and I am so sleepy that I was asleep in seconds when the light was turned off.

Lovely ride in this morning.  But it looks like it is the last of the good weather for this spectacular run of wintry goodness.  Bit of rain forecast until the weekend now.

Have a fantastic day.  I am off to see Christine for tea after work.  Can't wait to catch up with her.  Then we're off to the tramping club for a session on Iceland.  One of my favourite places.

Love,
Angela

The weekend with Monday off for the Queen's birthday

Hi,

Well, we certainly did ok with the weather gods this Queens' Birthday weekend.  Lucky for Mike (and Andrew) as he went into the bush with mates on Sunday.

Let's see what we got up to...

Saturday morning I was up fairly early to head down to the East Day Spa to get my toes done.  Heaven!  I had a birds eye view of the people arriving for Armageddon and watched costumed people climb the stairs to the concourse towards Westpac Stadium.

I was hoping to see Mike and Toby, but they were having a slightly less than organised morning.  I left after my toes were sufficiently pampered and drove to work and printed out Mike's tickets. Then I dropped them at the event and headed home via the supermarket.

My toes look amazing
Our new mattress arrived just as I got home.  I did a few things, but basically waited until the boys got home and we finished getting things sorted.

Sunday was a lazy day for me and Toby while Mike headed into the bush with his mates for "Survival Night".

Coffee date at the Dowse
Monday morning was also slow.  I did do a decent run in the morning though.  Then waited for Mike to get home before heading out to have a coffee/brunch date and do a few messages.

Back home to sort out things for the week.  For some reason I hit the wall.  Not sure why.  So I toddled off to bed fairly early.

A Virgin Mojito

Mike found me some new drink at the supermarket.  It's a bit sweet.  But it is ok.

The week looms - shorter than usual.  Yay for short weeks.  We're off to the Wairarapa this weekend to celebrate birthdays.  Woot!

Have an awesome week.

Love,
Angela

The Thursday with date night

Hi,

Oh - what a lovely surprise.  Toby had a sleepover with Isaac arranged, so I rode home and got ready to take him over there.  He'd already packed his bag - good on him!

Drove in via Mike's work because he had said we can drop Toby off and then have dinner out together.  Ooohhhh.  We chatted to Sally and Tim for a bit before we headed away leaving Toby with Isaac to enjoy the night.

Mike took me to the Otega Fish Shack and it was superb.  I ordered the snapper and Mike had the beef.  Dessert was a perfect chocolate mousse.  Mike was so passionate about some session he had attended for work in the afternoon.  R9 start up ideas.  He told me all about them, with eyes that sparked with enthusiasm.

We headed home after that - it felt late - but actually we got home just after 9pm.  Hahahah.  Slept well and Mike and I both walked into work this morning.

The long weekend looks like fun.  Mike and Toby have Armageddon tomorrow.  I have a foot spa session.  Can't wait for that.  And I need to get a few messages.  Our new mattress should arrive as well.

Mike is away Sunday afternoon for "survivor night" with his mates.  The only thing they survive is a heart attack through the mountains of bacon they consume.

And I hope to get some archery in. The weekend weather looks amazing.  Cold, but clear and sunny.

Have a wonderful weekend.  Enjoy the long one in New Zealand.  And the following weekend in Aus.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday that felt like it took 2 weeks to get here since Monday

Hi,

I have never been so confused about what week it is, let alone the day of the actual week itself.  Mike says he's concerned he can't remember things as well as he used to.  He's got nothing on me if I can't remember what week I am in.  Hahahah!

I engineered one of my regular staff meetings at the local coffee shop so I could indulge in an iced coffee.  As I was doing so, I realised iced coffees are at odds with the gym sessions I am about to commit to.  So, I think I will enlist my blog's help and say you should not expect to see as many iced coffees in the next 6 months as you have seen recently.  And by "recently" I mean in the last 5 years.  Hahahah.

OMG.  Is this the last iced coffee I have had for a while?  Oh.  I might be starting a cycle of grief and denial and whatever else comes with a sudden realisation of loss.

Mixed Business iced coffee goodness with Saman

Anyway, I left work on time yesterday because I had a plan.  I checked the bus timetable and zeroed in on the bus I thought Toby would be on to get home from school.  And as it came onto The Terrace I jumped on.  But I froze when I saw so many faces looking at me that I just aimed for a free seat with my tunnel vision and didn't look for Toby anymore.  But as I went down the centre aisle a hand snaked out from a window seat past another passenger and grabbed me gently.  I found Toby and he was chuffed.

We kept an eye on each other and jumped into a spare seat together at the first opportunity.  It was so nice to see him.

Mike got home not long after.  He sent a Glympse and I watched in come down Rankin and I thought he was riding his bike home (that's our bike route and not the bus).  But went I threw open the door, he was dressed in work clothes and he must have wondered at my exclamation "Did you ride home?".  Because he was obviously not in riding gear.  He drove home in the car.  Doh!  I forgot he had the car.

Anyway, we made tea and enjoyed some lamb from the My Food Bag.  I loved it.  The boys were not so pleased.

Mmmmm.  Lamb.  Best meat ever.

I didn't get out of bed this morning for my run.  It was too cold.  In fact, I was wondering if sending my manager a text to say it was too cold to go to work was a valid excuse in any way, shape or form.  As I am at work now, I don't need to say my morals won out over that argument.

But my ride in was lovely.  The cold southerly had dried to roads out and there is no rain forecast for a few days now.  Yay.

Have a brilliant Thursday.

Angela

The Tuesday that feels like last week

Hi,

Ok - so last week I was a day behind myself.  And this week I just have no idea what day it is.  On Monday I was trying to think of when I did something at work, and I had no idea if it was Tues or Wed - when it was actually Monday.  What's with that?  Hahahah.

Anyway, after work last night I went to the gym and tried the RPM class.  Wow.  What a lot of fun.  And hard work.  I don't think I have ever sweated so much, even when stupidly running on the Sunshine Coast in summer.  It was 45 minutes long and I have a lot to improve if I decide to sign up.  And it is looking likely that I will.

It was running hard when I got back to work around 6.45pm so I rang Mike and he came in to collect me while Toby finished off the dinner.  And what a dinner.  Sorry, no pictures.  But they were gourmet pizzas off the My Food Bag menu.  Well, Toby made himself cheese and bacon.  But mine and Mike's had beef balls and caramelised onions and capsicum.  Mmmmm.

Had a bath with Mike and then off to bed. But it seemed that my session at work focusing on self-awareness had made me introspective and I chatted away to Mike for quite a while before his snoring made me decide it was time to stop blethering.  Hahahah.  Lucky neither of us is kept awake by anything the other does.  Sleeping seems to come naturally.  Maybe more for me usually.

The rain is tipping down in buckets and I caught the bus in.  My hands are a little cold and typing is a little trickier than usual.  Middle of the week - even though I am confused about the day.

Have a fantastic day.

Love,
Angela
