The Thursday with an aborted walk home

 Hi,

After a busy day at work, Mike and I were finally ready to walk home. Stepped outside into a light drizzle. And being the soft humans we are, decided to catch a bus home.

The scheduled #13 disappeared off the board so we walked over to catch a #4. But the disappeared #13 ended up coming so we jumped on. Hahah. Just running late.

Got home just before 18:00 and cooked some tea. Tom was still a bit sick and ate in the lounge. But the rest of us had some gnocchi in a tomato sauce. I wanted canned tomatoes, but only found canned tomato soup. It was surprisingly good.

Helped Mike a bit tidy up the downstairs. Rationalising crates and cartons. But I wanted a shower and a bandage change before bed. So Mike helped me. Then he went back to continue and I went to bed to read.

Woke up Friday to a stunning day. Clothes washed and out. Towels in now. Sheets about to go in. Let's do this!

Trapline tomorrow. Our last one. Waaahhh. What a great activity this has been for us over the years. So pleased Elly suggested it to us.

Eyebrows tonight after work. And shopping. Hope you have a good day! And an even better weekend. Next open home is scheduled for Sunday - in some heavy rain. Oh well.

Love,

Angela

The Wednesday with a great walk home

 Hi,

What huge days. Yesterday (Wed) saw a big day at work. Then Barb and Mike and I walked home. Up St Mary's St, up the Northern Walkway, up Stellin track, then Paehuia to the top. 1 hour almost bang on from door to door. Barb went off to her house just before the top. Good fun.

Tom is sick - Mike and I hope we do not pick up any germs from him. He did stay in his room last night. And Elly slept downstairs. Hahah. She also does not want to get sick.

Mike cooked tea. Leftovers and some curry on rice. Ed by Mike: it was not a good dinner. I was trying to use up leftovers but there was not enough for 4 people so we ate degustation style with a small first main and then a second main 20 min later. And my rice was terrible - wet and gluggy. Don't know whether it was the different rice, the different microwave or just bad technique. Oh well. I will prep better for dinner on demand next time, and better judge how much 4 people eat too.

Off to bed not long after that. Good sleep. Up for the bus to town. Gym session. Leg day.

The Tuesday with a quiz win

 Hi,

I am going to lose followers without pics of my cats. Hahahah. Mike and I miss them. We went to bed last night and there should be a cat curled up on our bed. Another cat prowling the house, enjoying the fact that no other being is anywhere to disturb them. But no. We feel their absence.

However Toby is keeping us happy with cat content, such as:

Moxley surveying her new domain

Smudge is still athletic!

Local cat committee is considering the new arrivals

Yesterday I sat in Madeleine's old seat - and sent her the pic below. She couldn't make the quiz night because the leader debate was on. The Chrises. Good on her for making way to watch that.

In Madeleine's seat

My watch strap is on its last wrist

The quiz team

After work I wandered over to the Green Man with Mike and got some food ordered. We had a big team. Ange and her mum, Marion. Juliet and Rose. Michelle. Lisa. Jesper. Elly. Me and Mike.

And we smashed it. Ange and Elly were on fire. Winners by 3 points. Wow. And we had some tough rounds so it was very unexpected.

Taste test

Ange dropped me and Mike home and we said goodbye (until next time) to Marion. Watched the last half of the leaders debate with Tom. Who won? Well... did any of them cover themselves with glory? Actually, what I saw, I would give Hipkins the edge. But really - they are so similar and that is the rub. People want something different.

WINNERS BY THREE POINTS

High Fives all around

Off to bed. Asleep fairly quickly. Up for Mike to run for his bus. And me to have muesli. Realise the best bus for me was the #13 at 7.44. See the current time was 7.20am. And I was still eating muesli and in my pyjamas.

Challenge accepted. I rushed into the shower. 7.30am I was getting dry and getting dressed. 7.41 I ran out the door and down the steps to the bus stop. Got there at 7.44am - and watched as my watch clicked over to 7.45. Uh oh. Had I missed it?

No. Around the bend came my #13 at 7.46am. And what's more - the machine did not accept my credit card payment. So a free bus ride for me.

Morning Lewis Road

Into work and the day stretches ahead of me. Hope your day is brilliant.

The Monday working from home

 Hi,

Wellington turned on the weather on Monday. I got out for a run in the bush on Te Ahumairangi. That was super nice Only 2.5k though. Need a slightly longer loop. But it was lovely. Anything longer will be steep or on the roads.

Went for a run

After work I walked Katla with Elly. She showed me an awesome climbing tree. Katla just lay down to wait for us.

Went for a walk - Elly climbed a tree

I had tea with Elly and Tom - an Elly take on biryani. Delicious. Then off to meet Mike at our old house and do a few things. Water the new lawn. Sort out the HWC timer switch. Put graphite in a stiff door lock to make it work silky smooth.

In our old house

Views are stunning

Then home and off to bed. A bit of a restless sleep and then up for my PT session. Bench for the first time in ages. 35kg 6 reps x 4 sets. Then some accessories. Back felt ok. I do not think any stitches popped. Woot! It feels pretty good really.

Then brekkie at Margies before work.

Iced latte at Margies

The cats are doing well. I saw pics of them from Toby and Tessa. Tessa asked how to clean up cat vomit. I know exactly what has happened. Moxley has gobbled kibble again.

Right. Quiz night after work today. Let's do this!

Have a great day.

Love,

Angela

The weekend with our open home

 Hi,

What a huge weekend. We did not get up early Saturday for parkrun. I am soft. The rain put me off. But we had a lovely brekkie at home with Elly. Tom was already up and about.

Lewis Road

Saturday brekkie

Elly got our house ad in her socials

When we did Wordle, Elly got our house ad on her phone. Wow! We did admin through the day. Well, Mike did. I helped Elly move some stuff. And we hung some pictures. The rain cleared away by evening.

Chickens

Sunday pile of mulch

Sunday was stunning - a perfect day for our open home. And we went out to help Sally and Andrew with some stuff.

Trailer load of old wood

We got a trailer load of mulch and that got scattered around the garden. Then a huge effort to get all the old wood for projects out of the back shed and garage. We took wood to the trailer for ages - and then I went and checked in the back shed. And really - if you told me we had done nothing, I might have believed it. There must have been so much in there. Good on Andrew for parting with it all.

Ended up with 2 trailer loads to the tip. Woot! Back home to relax and make tea for us all. Burgers. Mmmm. Watched the sunset.

Sunset

Up to another glorious day here. WFH today. Will fit in a run. Enjoy your week.

The Thursday with Angie's last day at work

 Hi,

Another big day at work. Planning. But in other work news, my manager that hired me had her last day. She is retiring. She is only a few months older than me. She will be sorely missed. What a warmth she brings to any workplace. I have enjoyed working with her - we went to Nelson together in covid times to watch women's rugby. Bye Angie.

Manjot was over from Sydney for planning so I did catch up with her for a quick coffee break. So nice to chat to her. She will be amazing in her role.

After the big planning day we went to Bin44 to have drinks with Angie. And Brian came with us. We were supposed to have dinner with him before he flew back to Auckland. But he joined in the drinks session - and bought pizza. Mmmm. Bye Brian. Probably won't see him until he visits Sydney one day.

Hey Brian!

Toby and Tessa are progressing the burglary incident. One of the things stolen was Toby's Strat electric guitar. He has been playing it a fair bit. So last night he picked up my old guitar and played me a song. Riptide by Vance Joy. I might be biased, but with lessons Toby could be very good. He can hold a tune - he just needs to learn how to control it. He sounded lovely. I was watching it on the bus home and it made me quite teary.

Love my boy.

Toby sent me a video of him playing and singing

For sale sign is up

Looks nice

Mike and I got off at Norwich St and wandered up to get a last few things sorted. Saw the For Sale sign. The blossom in Juliette's place looks lovely.

Blossom off the deck

Walked back to Elly and Tom's place. 2km almost exactly. Mike took my backpack so I scampered up the hill.

Thank you Mike.

Friday now. After a huge week. Will be getting a few things done. We were going to head away for a tramp - but now the weather is not as nice as it could be.

Parkrun. Then messages.

Have a good weekend.

Love,

Angela

The Wednesday with lots of work on

 Hi,

What a day. Biopsy work went well. Out by 9.45am. Plaster over the two stitched up incisions. It only started to hurt a wee bit by lunch time.

Stitches in my back - looks neat

And a scrape on my head to check

Caught the bus home after a huge day. Quarterly planning. And walked up the steps to Elly and Tom's place. Some toast and into bed.

Michelle and Tim got back to Aus ok. :-)

Mike got home after his architect forum meeting. And off to bed with me. Up for PT for Mike (taking my session as I am not to stress my back for a while). Nurse said no stitches need to get popped. Sounds like sensible advice.

Iced latte at Smith the Grocer

Bus this morning to Smith the Grocer for brekkie with Mike after his session. Nice to grab food before our next big day at work.

Also read that Toby and Tessa came home last night to find they had been burgled. So I am feeling rather upset that they have to experience that. We will sort out the security at the new house a bit more so they can feel a little more safe. Waaaaaahhhh. Things can get replaced. But the trust is harder to rebuild. The cats are fine.

Hope you have a good one.

Love,

Angela
