The Tuesday at work

Hi,

At Machete enjoying an iced coffee with Celia.  Thanks for the pic, Dan!

My day started a lot more leisurely than it ended - that's for sure!  But I did eventually run away from work, not quite screaming.  Got home and cooked tea for Toby.  I bought him some eye fillet steak and I think he fell in love with that cut of meat right on the spot.  His wee eyes lit up as he tucked in.  Thinks I am a great cook when all I did was boil some potatoes, steam some broccoli and cook him his steak.  Hahahah.

I did get away for a work meeting at Machete and an iced latte.  Mmmmm.  Highlight of the day, in many ways.

The landscapers had been industrious once more and we can use the steps again.  I no longer have to climb over the new retaining walls and get covered in a sheen of clay dirt.  Woot!

It is possible the builders might be doing something this week.  I wait in delicious antici.......... pation.

(That last word was just for Mike).

Right.  Time for a cup of tea and the day to start.  Let's hope it's not quite as full of bedlam as yesterday ended up being.

Have a great day.

Love,
Angela

The Monday back at work

Hi,

Those landscapers are amazing!

Steps poured

I see my vege patch!

After making it through the day with a snotty nose and the dumbest excuse for a cough ever, I caught the bus home after picking up some groceries.  I cooked tea for us and we all sat down to eat.

After that, Mike cleared space in the garage as the builders may return soon.  Whatever that means.  We're getting a new door put in the garage - one we can use if the electricity fails.  With a step and access and everything useful.

Had a fitful sleep and a superb ride in this morning.  Stunning morning - no wind.  Clear skies.

Bring it all on!

Have a wonderful day.

Love,
Angela

The weekend where I was sick for most of it

Hi,

So - I was still sick on Friday and had a day at home in bed.  Missed Amy and Iona (as well as a tonne of work).  But I did decide to go see "Tomb Raider" with the boys at 8pm on Friday night.  Figured sitting in a dark warm room would be ok.  Movie was a bit pants - something about it just didn't hit the right spots.  Mike and Toby seemed to think it was ok.

Toby had come home after lunch as well that day.  Citing sore ribs still.  I think he was getting sick, as you will see later.

Smudge snoozing on my lap
One benefit of being sick and staying in bed is the cat decided to take up residence on my lap a few times.  Yay!

Saturday we got a few things done and Mike headed away for the family BBQ.  Toby had mates around (Ethan and Zach) and they watched movies while I stayed in my bedroom, reading.  But I heard Toby puking after a while.  His headache seemed to be related to something dodgy.

The boys decided not to stay in the house of pestilence and I took Zach home (Ethan's mother came to get him).  As I was driving through town, Mike came off the motorway right behind me.  He was coming home from the BBQ. One minute later either way for either of us, and we would never have met.  I stopped and we chatted before I continued to drop off Zach.

Turns out Zach's mother is from Dunedin (a few  years older than me) and his father is from Leeds (engagement ring came from there).  And Zach's mother works using the product my team support.  Too funny.

Sunday was a lazy day again - laundry and tidying up around the house.  Mike was a machine.  The landscapers are going to pour the steps today.  They are nearly done.

Tried to ride in this morning, but couldn't find my back light in the dark.  And I was running late.  So I jumped on the bus instead.  Got to yoga.   My bike jammed the garage door and it didn't close properly, but the boys sorted that.

Have a great day.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with a coffee date

Hi,

I finally (completely unprompted :-p) took Sam out for an iced latte @ Machete.  The staff were pleased to note a brand new punter with me for this visit.

Iced latte @ Machete - with Sam

Sam looks happy with his iced latte

Sam looked pretty happy to get a coffee from me, eh?

Anyway, yesterday came and went.  I am finding it very hard to deny that I am getting sick.  I did get a haircut after work - that was pretty good.  Toby said I looked younger (he knows exactly what women want to hear - and that is slightly disturbing) and Mike said he couldn't tell, but I looked stunning.  That because some (other) person told him the key was not to point out the change to a woman, but to comment that they looked amazing and couldn't actually put a finger on why.

Whatever!

My boys are incorrigible.

Anyway, time to hit the workload.  Oossshh!

Have a brilliant day.

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with not a lot on

Hi,

It was a weird day yesterday because I had so many meetings, and then as I arrived for them, they got cancelled/moved.  Really odd.

Iced latte with Celia

It did mean one of my meetings with Celia that got canned meant we could have our own meeting - at Machete.  With iced latte.  Mmmmm.

Got home and had to wander through the garden and climb onto the porch to avoid our newly poured concrete.  Hahahah.  Toby went through Juliet's house, and realised his key didn't open the door downstairs.  So he had to climb up, rescue the key from the lock box and come in.

We have a towel rail!

But it is all looking mighty fine.

And poured concrete!  Ooohhhh.

I went back into town to get Mike (and my bike).  Caught up with Josh, Steph, Bronwyn and Satish.  Good fun.  Dropped Josh home and then fell into bed.

I am getting sick.  This time, it might be for real.  Pants.  Vitamin C tablets are getting chewed up like mad in a valiant (but maybe, vain) attempt to stop the impending cold.

I did book flights for me and Toby to Queensland for the April school hols.  Woot!  Can't wait for a week there.  Family, sun, surf and running!  Cool, cool.

Enjoy your Wednesday.  Hump day.  The rest of the week is a coast to Friday!

Love,
Angela

The Monday back at work

Hi,

Had a crazy day at work - but I did collect my bronze medal.  Ooossshhh!  Pretty happy with that.  I may have worn it to the last meeting of my day.  And I am going to say that all I got were admiring looks - no one at all suggested I might be even slightly mad.  Hahahahah!

I got some groceries on the way home - with everyone else in Wellington.  What a queue!  Caught the bus home as I was absolutely shattered.  Mike actually got on the same bus later - he is so cute.  As a testament to how tired I was, I actually fell asleep on Mike's shoulder.  Wow!

Cooked tea for us - chicken schnitzels for the boys.  Haloumi from Zany Zeus for me.  On salad.  Then I relaxed before crashing into bed.

Up early to walk into work.  Lovely morning again.  But it is supposed to turn to worms soon.

Have a great day!

Love,
Angela

The weekend with the dragon boat race day

Hi,

I caught up with Andrew for an iced latte on Friday morning - mainly to hear about his cool plans for the weekend tramping.  He was collecting spot heights in from Holdsworth.  Sounded amazing.  I was wearing my shirt for Farmer Friday - it's a thing at work.  Like Purple Shirt Thursday.

Farmer Friday iced latte with Andrew.  Mmmmm.
But the weekend for me was all about the dragon boat race day.  Our first race was at 9.00am Saturday, and we had another 3 races before finding out if we made it to the grand final or not.  The first race was a warm up - no points allocated.  I think we came 4th in that one.

Next race was quite soon after that - and we got 1st place.  The second race we also got 1st place.  All we needed for the 3rd race was a top 3 finish and we'd likely be in the grand final. Mike watched this one.  It was tough - we came 4th in the race.  We were all a bit down.  But it turns out one of the teams wasn't in our league (all men - and Ma'a Nonu was paddling in it!) so we technically did some 3rd and we made it into the grand final in 5th place.

Ooossshhh!  You got to be in it to win it!

Serge took mighty fine photos of us!

I'm just behind Jo with the cap on.  Thanks Serge.

Me, Sam and Celia just before race 4

#gameface on.

We're all listening

The team!

And how did we do?  I know you all want to know!  Grand Final.  Best conditions of the day.  Qualified in 5th place.  And....  we came third!  Woot, woot!  Got a bronze medal.  Best time of the day for us.  Very happy.

Mike came in to collect me and we went to see Ange's cats and fed them and gave Steel his medicine.  Ange was staying out at Martinborough for Terri and Bryce's wedding.

We then went to Makara beach and enjoyed some food and the company of friends until 11pm.

Feet at Makara

Mmmm - chippies.  Mmmm - cheese.

My phone's camera can pick out Orion!

When we got home, we found out that Toby had no idea where we were and thought we were picking him up from Molly's house at 7pm.  We were bad parents.  I wasn't happy at the miscommunication.  Toby totally needs a phone!

Next day was navigation day for Mike - so Toby and I caught up with Sally and enjoyed Zany Zeus together.

Vanilla thickshake
Toby and I popped into Queensgate for a bit before collecting my bike and some photos and heading home.  Relaxed for the most of the rest of the day.  Got a headache - suspect dehydration was to blame.

But, what an amazing weekend.  Celia and Matt got the best out of the team.  I counted up my training hours - 11 over the season.  I really, really enjoy the challenge of it all.

Have an incredible week.

Love,
Angela
