The weekend with the dragon boat race day

Hi,

What a great weekend - we had a lot of fun on Saturday with a well-run dragon boating event for race day.

Iced latte at Pandoro with Saman on Friday
Friday saw me catching up with Saman for an iced latte.  Good to chat to him - it had been a while.  I wish him the very best of luck as he tackles everything that comes his way.  It's been fun seeing him grow in the team.

Packed when I got home for the race day on Saturday.  So excited.  Slept well.

Saturday morning looks mighty fine
Up early and Mike dropped me at work and we collected Joycie's gear for the team.  He drove up past the bollards and we unpacked the car.  Joycie had jet plane lollies, yellow Powerade and tea/coffees and water.  She did so well keeping us all watered and fed.

We had a tent next to Dragonboat Z so I checked out the team to see what they were doing.  Research, you know.  :-)

Oosshh!
The weather was stunning.  One of the best days this summer.  How lucky are we?

Good morning Wellington!

Hey Sreejith - we look ready!

Lani and Chenda look ready too!

We did so well in the actual races - getting faster in every race.  What an awesome team.  We ended up in the B final, and got bronze for our valiant effort.  So happy.

Went and showered then Mike and I met Andrew at Rogue and Vagabond for a few drinks and some pizza ahead of meeting Sally for the Pride Parade.

Waiting at Rogue and Vagabond for Pride Parade to kick off

We stood opposite Serge at the parade.  It was great fun.  Enjoyed the Dykes on Bikes section the most.  Because, who doesn't like motorcycles?

Out to Egmont St Eatery afterwards for cocktails and dinner (for Sally).  Mmmmm.  Then we collected the car from Te Papa and headed home, via Lower Hutt.  And work (for my things).

Up on Sunday for brunch with Christine.  Qilin Tea House was in fine form.

Hello Christine!

Qilin tea house do great iced whites

Back home and to bed for me (had a headache all day).  Out for grocery shopping later on.  Car park was almost empty at the supermarket.

No one else at the supermarket
There were some weird empty shelves.  Hand santiser was empty.  Weird.  And there had been more glove buying than I would have thought was necessary.  But plenty of toilet paper - which was lucky because we needed some.

All fun and games.  The corona virus is keeping family busy (Sally at her work, and Iona at hers).

Toby and I might be getting sick - but we have no reason to believe it is anything other than a cold.  I might just be run down anyway.

Here's hoping the week ahead is a gentle one - not like last week and its general chaos (not of my making).

And so excited about the family birthday event at the end of this week over in Featherston.  Yes!  Hurry up and be Friday already!

Have a superb week.

Love,
Angela
