The Tuesday with work things

 Hi,

I got home after being away for ages. And the cats were so happy to see me. Once I tidied up their mess (mainly in the kitty litter) and got water refreshed and kibble and Fancy Feast served, they decided to bury me in the furry bodies.

Yvette and I dressed the same - kinda

Smudge came for some loving

I had Smudge on my lap and Moxley on my upper chest. Too funny. Mike got home later and also doted on the cats. And they were so happy to see him too.

Off to bed after watching some You Tube. Had a good sleep. Up for bus in (I really need to get my bike sorted - the bus was crowded!) and long day at work.

Meet Up architecture meeting after work today. But I want to see the cats. So maybe I skip it.

Have a great day!

Love,
Angela

The Monday with working from home

 Hi,

Winter arrived in Dunedin and we did get a lot of cold rain for most of the day and into the night. We got some Thai takeaways in, but I was disappointed with the food. My pad Thai tasted like spaghetti with tomato sauce. Oh well.

We watched some YouTube and went to bed around 2030 because we were in for an early Uber to the airport.

Wintry morning in Ōtepoti

4:30am wake up and we said goodbye to Polly before jumping in our very nice BYD Atto 3 Uber. We left Highgate just before 5am and we were at the airport by 5:25am. Cold rain still but not freezing. 4.5C.

Simple flight through to Te Whanganui a Tara and an Uber from the airport saw us at work just after 8am. Not too bad, eh?

Mike has a meeting after work with a colleague from a previous workplace. I will go home and feed the cats. Thank you Sally for looking after them while we were away.

Hope your day is a good one.

Love,

Angela

The weekend in Dunedin

 Hi,

Happy birthday today to Shona and Sharon. Hope they have a great day. It is birthday week for the Emmerson clan with Karen's later this week too.

Mike and I are down in Dunedin, visiting his Mum. And we have now eyeballed her and she is very well. Yay! Sometimes you just need to see someone. We love coming to visit. Even if we seem to have struck unusual weather here in Dunedin. Warm conditions at the end of last week (we went for a walk and felt a warm breeze from time to time, in the evening) and expecting snow on the hills today.

Moon rise on flight down

Iced latte at No7 Balmac

Fast shuttle ride from our late arriving flight into Dunedin saw us at Polly's house around 22:30. We were the second last drop off.

Mike worked Friday and I wandered up to No7 Balmac for brekkie. Polly joined me for a coffee. And then we wandered back home. Mike got a gap at 14:30 so we walked back up for a late lunch.

Mike's hand is really starting to curl up

It is spring in Dunedin

The weather is really warm here. The daffodils are out and the blossoms are also coming out. We went for a walk into town Friday after Mike's work and enjoyed the balmy conditions. Wandered around the town centre. George St was getting pedestrianised last time we were here. And now it works really well. You can drive through - but you really shouldn't. The traffic gets banked up and parks are reduced.

Walked back home up Newington Ave and saw the infamous hedge where Sally deposited Mike in his pram. Hahah.

Saturday saw us miss Park Run because the walk up the hill made us cough still. Stupid flu. We did get to see Shoshana though. Met her two dogs. And I got sourdough starter from her. I am very excited to try that.

Sunday we went into town for some brunch. Went to The Corner Store (saw it on our walk Friday evening). It was very nice. Mike worked here for Bruce McMillan back when he was a young man!

We have fixed a few things around the house. Bamboo blind. Printer. Door (that was funny. Rasp. Chisel. Sander. But the plane is what worked in the end).

Garage door repairs happening today! Sweet!

Right. Time to get stuck into work. The new world has arrived.

Angela

The Wednesday with work

 Hi,

After a busy day at work, I bussed home. And ended up convincing Mike (it was not hard) to come home instead of going to the leadership MeetUp.

Lovely evening

We fed the cats and sorted ourselves out for dinner. Then we watched some YouTube and did not actually pack for the weekend down in Dunedin. Oops.

We went to bed and slept the best sleep in ages. My cough is almost gone now. Yay! Mike is still a bit wheezy.

Woke up and I had an online session with Quentin in the garage gym. Bench. First bench post flu. 35kg. 6 reps x 4 sets. Mike was in town for his session with Quentin. Quentin heads to Queenstown at the end of next week with Courtney. Very exciting.

Cleaners came this morning. Moxley got out twice. Hahah. And their daughter is due to give birth this afternoon to twins so we wished them all the best for that.

Washing done. House clean. Will pick up Mike after work and head to the airport. Sally coming to play with the cats to keep them company.

Have a great weekend.

It will be my sisters' birthday while we are away. I will be thinking of them. And Karen will also have you birthday next week. Busy time.

Love,

Angela

The Tuesday at work

 Hi,

No iced latte and no cats pics. What is happening to my blog content? I have gone off iced lattes since I got sick with that flu. Weird, but true. I expect it will come back with a vengeance at some point very soon.

I have been busy so didn't get time to blog yesterday. Monday night saw Mike and I meet Adnan at Dillingers to celebrate our work time together and see him off this week from work. If anyone needs a super smart analyst, let us know. We were going to Honey Badger but it turns out they have closed up shop. We had some beersies and tapas with Adnan at Dillingers and it was very nice.

Waiting for Adnan at Dillingers

Team lunch

Also got away at lunch time for a team lunch. One Red Dog. Food was pretty good. And thank you, Erin, for the delicious mocktails. Our team will not be the same after this week. Paul is off sick with concussion and then looking for work once he gets better. Nicole has secured a maternity cover position at work - yay for that. And Erin has special work lined up too. All looking much better than a week ago for everyone.

Nice mocktail - ta Erin

Work has been busy. But I did graduate from my te reo classes. 10 weeks of it. And I did do my homework. Did my mihi. It was ok. Could have been better. But it is at least now in my memory banks.

I graduated from my te reo classes

Work fun

We had a special work event with many coming from across Aotearoa to connect. Shoshana was up from Dunedin. Always good to catch up with her.

Mike was saying goodbye to Richard from work in Bin44. And Andrew joined him - so after work quiz (we came second! We only got 3 wrong in the list of elements that start with M or N) we caught up with them. Had a drink then walked Shoshana to Rydges and saw Andrew off to the trains before we caught a 14 bus.

Up for bus and gym this morning. Squats. 30kg 6 reps x 4 sets. And stretches. My poor body.

Have a great day! Lovely here in the capital this morning.

Love,

Angela

The weekend in Blenheim still recovering

 Hi,

I was surprised I was ready and able to fly to Blenheim after work on Thursday. Mike dropped me off at the airport for my 1930 flight. I managed to time the flu drugs well and did not cough as we flew over. Winds were favourable and it was a very short flight of 20 mins. I beat Iona there. Hahah.

Moxley looking adorbs

Ready for my flight

Mid ride iced coffee - old school

Friday saw us up for a bike ride. But after about 20 mins on the Taylor river flat, I suggested to Iona I was not up for a lot more than that. So we stuck to the flat parts. I managed 20 km all up. But we did stop at the aviation museum for an iced coffee during the middle of it.

Raranga fun

Back home for some raranga fun. Making muka. Mandy has another project underway so Iona was prepping for that.

Yep - good enough

Picton museum

Saturday we went to see the rugby exhibition at Picton Museum. Col has a photo in the exhibition - she was in the first ever NPC first division rugby game between Manawatu and Hawkes Bay. Wow. Her pic is there for everyone to see.

Proud!

Watching TV

Back home to watch the All Blacks play Fiji in San Diego. Great game. Then off to try a rogaine course out along Taylor River. Great fun for an hour as the sun set.

Lovely evening

Throw back to last visit

Sunday saw us entertain Malcolm, Marion and Anthony for brunch. Anthony is off to Aus to live soon. Exciting for him. And we all went out to do E line too. No critters this time.

Date scones for the win

Col made date scones for the afternoon. Delicious. We did well in the stuff quiz. And before too long I was at the airport and heading home.

Stunning views

Mike met me at the airport and we were home to feed the cats nice and early. Mike had tidied the house so much. Wow! Made me feel very welcome.

Caught the bus in this morning. Going to go out with Adnan after work today to celebrate his achievements and listen to what he hopes to get stuck into next.

Hope you all have a great day. Mike and I are both so much better. But we still cough a bit when we exert ourselves. Yikes!

Enjoy your day.

Love,

Angela
