The Tuesday with nothing much

 Hi,

The weather is really great - started grey yesterday but came right. And then today is even nicer. Wow. Love these cold, clear mornings.

Here we go

Let's try portrait

Had lunch with Barb at Smith the Grocers Tuesday lunch time. We caught up with each other's news. She has been down south for a week or so. And her work is adjacent to mine - well, I mean her work deals in the same sort of area as me. So it is good to keep across how that is going.

Rode home after work and got tea ready. While I waited for Mike, I made lunch for us. Evidence below. I saw someone make sandwiches without bread. They used two halves of a capsicum. And then filling. So let's see if they are as yummy as You Tube made them look.

Hard no from Smudge. My journey continues.

Kara rang late and we chatted to her for ages. Planned a few things.

Spotted this number plate for Martyn today

Wednesday morning cracker of a day

Bussed in. Quentin is sick - hopefully ok by tomorrow morning. Saw a car with JDE as its number plate. Funny.

Got Jane Goodall tonight with Mike, Kara and Andrew. Meeting them at Little Beer Quarter at 1730 ahead of the 1930 amazing Jane Goodall session.

Have a great day.

The Monday back at work

 Hi,

Worked from home on Monday. Was there to get the grocery delivery - woot! And it has all the Fancy Feast flavours. So every day I will try a different one to see if Smudge can be enticed by anything else. She turns her nose up at everything right now. Lucky she likes the kibble.

Got all the Fancy Feast flavours

Chicken pate was a hard no

Mike got home and we had tea. Then I convinced him we should have a bath and warm up lots. That worked a charm. Chatted away. Heard all about his fire extinguisher course. Did you know you should approach a fire from 2m out and walk towards it, low, while sweeping the extinguisher at the fire? Did you know house fires have been caused by people taking hot dry washing out of a drier and letting it sit in a pile, and the smouldering clothes catch fire and burn the house down?  Did you know the RACE and PASS mnemonics?

It was quite the bathtime.

Slept ok. Moxley was hogging the bed. I think I did gymnastics in my sleep.

Up for bike ride in and PT session with Quentin. 80 push ups. Plus 57kg squats. 3 reps x 4 sets. My arms are like wet noodles.

Busy at work. But at least the sun has come out.

Enjoy your day!

Love,

Angela

The weekend with chill things in Wellington

 Hi,

June is the month for birthdays, eh?

Mike and I caught up with Philippa on Thursday. So good to see her. I think we have seen her once maybe since the start of covid when she and Dean moved to the Wairarapa. We went to Arabica and enjoyed a cheerful lunch there - like always. Philippa is good - told her to save up for Nepal in 2026. Hahah. Learned about her peonies business. And all the renovations she has done and is doing!

Lunch with Philippa

Home made Friday iced latte

Friday saw me go get the car from Raj after its radiator was fixed. I walked down - took me about 32 minutes.

Back to wait for Mike to get home and then picked up Tom on our way to tea with Elly at Yellow Chilli in Kelburn.

Cats pin me down

Friday light show with Elly and Tom

Very nice food there, followed by the main event: Light show in behind the old Metservice building. So busy with heaps of Wellington people out to see it.

The queue was long

And the light show starts

I really enjoyed the displays. Good fun for the whole family. Then Tom took us back to Kelburn via the dark, glow-worm route at the back of the gardens. So lovely.

Said goodbye to Elly and Tom and headed home. Mike was up for park run. And I stayed in bed. He absolutely smashed it. PB on his watch.

Squats
Got a garage gym session in. Finished my push ups for the day too. Big day. 123 of them I think. Did 45kg squats. 3 reps x 4 sets. Not too bad.

Sunday saw us head to see the Sampsons in their amazing new house. Saw a cat briefly. Hahah. We ate pastries and chatted away for ages. Had a tour of their house now with all their furniture in it. It is really going to set them up for years now, I reckon. So much space for them all. They all seem good! And I got a Wally iced latte special. Yay!

Home to chill. And watch Mike's Subaru dashboard YouTube vid. Hahah. He finally got it edited and uploaded. The reassembly video is still to come apparently.

Great chill weekend. Hope you have a brilliant week.

The Wednesday with Mike's amazing talk on great walks

 Hi,

I tested negative - yay! So after work I went up the Te Ahumairagi hill, following our covid walk (the irony!).

Day break on a stunning day

Sunset

Saw the spectacular sunset over the western hills as I climbed higher and higher. Then popped over to the other side for a view of the city. Lights twinkling over the still harbour.

Sunset

City by night

Maarten and Irina were there so we chatted some before Mike's group arrived.

Southern Cross looking mighty fine

Mike's Meet Up group

Then back down to Sprig and Fern for Mike's talk. Caught up with Callan and Kara there. And Mike's talk went really well. The room was packed. Some had to stand at the back! He talked for an hour on the Great Walks. Logistics. What to expect. Ideas for booking and other things to do in the region. And a quick look at the walks themselves. So good.

The room, ready to go. He fitted nearly 30 people in here somehow

Then we Ubered home and went to bed. I slept well. Up early for the first time in ages for PT with Quentin in the gym. Started with 50 push ups for the challenge. And then 70kg dead lifts. 5 reps x 4 sets. Very good. Quentin is finally much better after being pretty sick.

Thursday morning gym

Iced latte from French Kiss cart

Met Andrew on his way to work and had an iced latte. And then caught up with Roanne at work as she got a bagel for brekkie.

Will see Philippa for lunch today - first time seeing her for years! I am not sure we have seen her since covid.

Then home early because I think our premium game delivery will arrive. Best get that into the freezer.

Have a great day! It is my weekend soon. Roll on 5pm.

Love,

Angela

The Tuesday with working from home

 Hi,

Mike still avoids covid. And I feel pretty good, really. Yesterday - what happened? Lots of work on. Chasing things there.

Trying to lure Mike with food

Ball of cat

Grant's surprise pasta

Mike was checking the venue and route for his talk on Wednesday night. So he was a little late getting home after climbing Te Ahumairangi.

But we had pasta for tea - with Grant's Surprise. Leeks and sustainable salmon. Mmmmm.

Off to bed pretty early. But I read until midnight. Idiot. Mike slept well though. Up for PT session in the garage - but Quentin had a terrible night. So that is now at 1pm. And I slept in. Hahah.

Mike was off with an Uber and his projector for his talk and I drove the car (with as much water in the radiator as could fit - and lucky it was a very cold morning) to the Northland Motors and Raj to sort out the broken radiator. I jumped on my bike and rode back. 6 mins. Not bad.

I wore a mask as I chatted (briefly ) to Raj. And I was interested to see how I would feel doing some exercise. Felt fine. I might try something more active after I have my PT session with Quentin in the garage.

And I am doing the Push Up Challenge for mental health - an Aussie charity. From today to June 28. So don't mind me when I drop to give you ten!

Have a great day!

Love,

Angela

The weekend with the kings birthday and covid

 Hi,

Is it really covid 19 when we are in 2024? Anyway - Thursday night I did a test and turns out I have covid. Luckily it seems a light touch of it. Only a scratchy throat, slightly dribbly nose and not a lot else.

Moxley keeping me company

Sunrise

Love how she sleeps

Smudge comes over too

Got my medal board up

Went for a walk in my new tramping boots

See Mike running?

And tbh, this was the best timing ever. Nothing planned for Kings Birthday. So I stayed home and watched a lot of movies. Most of the movies were terrible. Hahah.

Mike got a lot done around the house. He picked up a projector and a bike box from Roanne. But as he drove into the garage, the radiator was spraying out water and glycol. Not good. It is booked in to see Raj this week.

Mike got the projector ready for his talk on Wed night. He also prepped his content for it. And went out with Andrew (they got back from Aus!) to buy a drill and put my punching bag up. Sweet!

Quentin is sick too (not from me - I have not seen him for a few weeks!) so Mike did online with him yesterday and I went up to the garage this morning to do a session. 40kg squats. 5 reps x 4 sets. And hip thrusts. And other accessories.

Working from home. But I hope I test negative so I can go to Mike's talk on Great Walks this Wed night.

Have a great week.

Love,

Angela
