The weekend with family time and Jurassic World

 Hi,

What a busy weekend. Started with an early brekkie at The Lab with Kate and Khemry. And as we waited for our food, Andrew strolled by on his way to work. So he joined us for a quick chat before heading on back to his work.

Friday brekkie

Unexpected guest

After Kate rushed away for her early morning meeting we got onto the Voting Compass. And Mike and Khemry did it while we chatted about the election. That was fun to see their results.

After brekkie, I went to the GP for my appointment. First time using a DIY kit for the test. Woot! Fingers crossed it is all good.

Then out to Lower Hutt to collect Polly and off to Makara to visit Vivienne's tree. The kowhai is growing well - despite an attempt by rabbits to debark it near the base.

At Makara

Tulips in full bloom at the gardens

We drove by the gardens on our way to catch up with Mike and noticed the tulips in bloom. So we stopped and checked them out. Sunday was Tulip Sunday, so they were in their peak.

Okay - that is gorgeous

Catch up with Mike

Saw Mike briefly at the Mojo by his work. And Polly decided to visit Te Papa and head home her own way.

There is that busy bee

I made seed crackers from Iona's recipe. Seemed to come out okay. Turns out while I was hankering to have some of them, Iona had decided to also make them at her place. Hers looked way better. But they do taste great even if mine look a bit ragged.

Saturday morning, we both volunteered to help run the Lower Hutt Parkrun. We'd both never done this before! We picked the worst weather ever. Just before 8am it started really bucketing down rain and it didn't lessen up until 9am when the last park walkers made their bedraggled way to the finish line. Still, it was fun. We will have to do it again, next time can't be worse than this time.

I'm ready to go! Logging runners' and walkers' barcodes.
It hasn't started raining properly yet.

Mike, on the right, is timekeeping with his phone and hand in a plastic bag.
The last walkers are arriving.
It's pouring with rain but it's about to lessen up (since the event is over).

We headed off late Saturday to collect John from home and met everyone at Bella Italia for 6.30pm dinner. It was lovely as always. Good to see John and hear what he has been up to. The weather had closed in again and it was looking quite damp out there.

Polly chatting over dinner

Up Sunday to clearing but still-dodgy weather so the walk up Mt Kau Kau was cancelled. Instead we picked up Ange and Danita and had brekkie at Joe's Garage.

Joe's Garage

From there we headed to the new convention centre and for $30 ($27 for Ange as a student!) we had a good look at the Lego Jurassic World. I loved it! Ange is a huge Jurassic World fan which made it even better, vicariously enjoying her enthusiasm.

Off to see Jurassic World - in Lego!

Lego everywhere

Yep - a lab too

How cool is this?

Wow!

Blue has got me

Run, Mike!

A wee walk to finish off the fun around the waterfront. By now the sun had started to peek out. So yay for less rain.

And a walk to finish off

Made biscuits

Got back home and made biscuits while Mike worked on some homework.

Moxley and Smudge had a conference with Tenzing while Mike worked

The week has kicked off. Plenty on.

We will not mention the netball.

Have a lovely week.

Love,

Angela
