The weekend with three days off

Hi,

Talk about stunning weather for the long weekend!  Wow.  More of that for Wellington, but loads of snow on Mt Ruapehu, please.

Friday night I eventually got home after riding there in the dark.  And I mean dark.  One stretch near home is completely devoid of street lights at the moment.  When I got home I changed the batteries in my lights.  Hahahah.  I also tried to pump up my new road tyres for my bike ride the next morning and had no joy.  Tried again super early the next morning, hoping that daylight might make it easier.  No.  Went back to bed and read.

Made myself toast in bed
I opened the doors and enjoyed the still, crisp morning.  It did mean I could see my breath when I exhaled.  But the electric blanket kept up!

Morning just kept getting better

I read and tidied and eventually left the house to do something.  Hahahah.  I went around to see Aidan and her boys.  She'd been out and about with them and decided that takeaways were in order.  I tried her local Indian takeaways and declare them good!

Next morning was stunning - again!  I dropped off some green council bags at Aidan's place and she convinced me I really wanted a walk.  Turns out I did!  I borrowed some clothes and shoes off her and we walked up to the world war two bunkers above Brooklyn.  What an amazing view.  Not a breath of wind.  It was a slice of paradise.

Look at that view!

Your turn!

I went home via the hardware store where I got the best customer service.  I was wearing a skirt, so I am thinking that I need to wear one every time I visit.  I painted my wardrobe doors, while wearing Mike's overalls.

Doors looking good!

Went out for tea at Sally and Andrew's place and caught up with people.  Mike and Toby got back from tramping and Mike got so, so sick!  That night he got up every hour to shout at the toilet.  Poor chap.

That meant it was my job to take the boys to Armageddon (the sci fi convention).  Aidan and Josh dropped off Emerson and Duncan and we walked to the Westpac Stadium.

Three boys on a mission
The boys loved it.  They bought well, and enjoyed the atmosphere.  We listened to the voice actors for Grandpa Max (Ben 10), Rigby (Regular Show) and the voice of Mario for quite a while.  Back to Aidan and Josh's place for a cup of tea then home to sort out my wardrobe.  Not!  Had a problem hanging it.  One is now half on.  It was a weekend of personal failures really - tyres still flat and wardrobe doors not on yet.  Perhaps I need Mike after all!  :-p

Our side garden looks good
The side garden is done and looks great.  I'll plant some veges this coming weekend.  Awesome!

Lovely morning again here.  My ride in was cold but good.

Have a great week.

Angela

The Thursday with nothing

Hi,

I rode home and found Toby already at home.  He did his homework while I cooked him some tea.  I packed for his tramping weekend and Mike got home and did his packing.

The boys leave on Friday directly after school/work.  They're heading off to the Ruahines for the weekend, back late Sunday.  This is so they are here for Armageddon on Monday!  Toby loves that (it's a sci fi sort of convention - great fun!).

I have the weekend to myself.  How cool is that?  I do have a lot of books I'd like to read.  And a road bike I'd like to take out.  The weather for the weekend looks stunning!

Our garden is getting sorted outside our window.  Well, our garden and the neighbour's garden.

Not far off now
Should make for an easier garden to maintain and a nicer view from our lounge window.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with tramping club for Mike

Hi,

What a relaxing evening.  At least for me.  I rode home and found Toby already at home, so I started straight into cooking dinner for him.  A Thai chicken green curry.  Well, I liked it.  And Toby ate a lot of it.  But it certainly wasn't a favourite with him.  Mike was off at tramping club (quiz night!) so he has the leftovers for lunch today.  Hope he doesn't mind it.

The ride in this morning wasn't entirely pleasant.  I did miss the rain though.  But it was dark, and wet, and windy.  I rode over a bump at one point and my light at the front flipped over and dazzled me briefly before deciding this was far too hard and switched itself off.  Had to pull over and fiddle with the silly thing to make it finally turn back on.  It's on its last legs - but I love that light!  Might be time to go shopping for another beacon!

Mike and Toby are packing tonight for tramping this weekend.  We have a long weekend this weekend (Queens Birthday).  Monday will see the boys at Armageddon.  Toby loves that!  It's on every two years.

Right.  Time for a tea.

Have a marvellous day.  Stay dry if you're in Wellington.

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with Toby sick

Hi,

Mike stayed at home with Toby yesterday and booked a doctor's appointment.  But Toby improved during the day, so the appointment was cancelled and Toby is attending school today.

I rode home yesterday and caught up briefly with Mike before he went out for his tramping meeting (the other meeting - ssshhhhh).  I dropped Mike off in town and came back to finish Toby's tea.  Then I had a bath and relaxed before Mike got home and we chilled out.

The weather was lovely for my ride in this morning.  Quite windy, but not too cold at all.  And the roads were bone dry.  I hurtled down the hill.  A car met me just as I crested the hill but there wasn't any way they were going to catch me.

I remembered to come to the Lambton Quay side of our building this morning.  None of our lifts work at the moment.  The bottom of the lift shafts are filled with water.  Nice.  They might be out all week.

Have a lovely day.

Love,
Angela

The Monday with Toby sick

Hi,

Mike hadn't been to work for ten days, so he could hardly cancel his fifty million meetings to look after Toby at home.  So I stayed at home and battled against the network for most of the day.  Some things I needed certain settings for - and others, that setting just broke things.  So I was forever switching back and forth whenever something broke.  But I had loads to do and kept busy for the day.  I did enjoy the sunshine streaming in the windows.

Toby is okay - but he is off sick again today.  He is complaining about earache.  But I think it is just a blocked ear from his scratchy throat.  But, what do I know?  He could also be completely fooling us and he has just missed Mike so much that he wants to stay with him.  Mike will likely take him to the doctor today - just to check what is wrong.

The ride into town was perfect this morning.  It is a beautiful cool crisp day.  No frost, but pretty cold.  First time I have thought about getting the long-fingered gloves out for the winter.

Mike has a meeting in town after work.  So I will swap over with him.

Have a wonderful day.
Love,
Angela

The weekend when Mike came back

Hi,

Toby and I had a movie fest in Mike's absence this weekend.  Friday night we watched part 1 of the last Twilight movie (yep - I am sick of it completely now) and then we were up Saturday morning to play and do some laundry.  We went grocery shopping and back to put everything away.

Emerson and Duncan arrived at about 4pm for their sleepover.  I caught up with Aidan, not having seen her for ages.  Wedding anniversary for them!  Woot!  She left and I took the boys into town for dinner and the latest X-Men movie.

Emerson's plate from the chinese buffet.  Now I know what he likes best
Emerson was so funny with his chinese buffet.  He only got spring rolls and roast potatoes.  But he did manage to eat an awful lot of them.  Not quite all of them though.  But that might have been the lure of a sundae dessert.

Dessert time

We got into the cinema and settled in to watch the movie.  I liked it.  Emerson and Duncan liked it.  Toby - not so much.

Toby pulling another face!

Anyhow, it was a late night.  9.15pm by the time we got home.  I was out like a light in Toby's bed.  But the other room was quiet, so I think they had an early night.  I didn't hear much from them until 7.30am.  Very kind of them.

Eventually they came up for breakfast and then Aidan and Josh came to collect them.  After lunch, Toby asked to go to another movie. We both wanted to see Divergent.

Made Toby some fruit for lunch. Hahahah.  Fun.
We both really enjoyed the movie.  I must read the next book in the series.  Then we went home to wait for the flight to arrive.

Chocolates and a card for Dad
The awful weather in Wellington meant Mike's flight was delayed.  But it landed and we fell on him, getting hugs and kisses.  Back home and Mike read to Toby and then we all slept well.

I got up for my run this morning and it is cold!  Toby is off sick and I am working from home.  Hope you have a lovely week.

Love,
Angela

The Thursday with nothing much

Hi,

Well, truth be told, I can't wait for the end of the working week.  Toby and I have missed Mike, even though we think it's a good thing he is down in Dunedin.  Cuddles from Toby are very nice, but I miss the bear hug ones I get from Mike that make me feel safe from everything.

I rode home last night and found the car safe and sound at the library and collected Toby and went home.  I cooked tea for Toby and he hammered through his homework.  I think he understands division really well now.

We're going to have Nandos again tonight because he loved it so much last Friday.  Woot!

Aidan gets back from her hectic week away with work and if I'm lucky we might catch up this weekend (briefly - it is her wedding anniversary and I think Josh has plans because we have the boys on Saturday night for a sleepover).  I intend to hand my room over to them and throw corn chips in from the door.  Hahahah.  I want to take them to see the new Marvel movie.  X Men.  Want to come, Sally?

Apart from that, not much else on.  I think Toby and I might have a reason to wander over to the airport on Sunday evening.  Woot!

Yep - bring on the end of the working day!

Love,
Angela
