The Thursday with me going home sick

 Hi,

Happy birthday to Vivienne!

Well, it was a weird day.  Vanessa surprised me at work, and I leapt at the chance to catch up with her and have an iced latte.  Mmmmm.

Best iced latte because of the surprise from Vanessa

And, obvs, it's all about the coffee with her...

Selfie!

But that was the only work highlight.  I actually went home at lunch time sick.  Stupid cold.  Snot and cough.  Pah!

I did have to drive Toby to his appointment in town - and get out of my sick bed to do so.  Mother's work.  Sigh.  But as I drove home, I sat behind KQF652 at the traffic lights.  OMG!  I so wanted to toot and flash my lights - but they would have been oblivious that I was sitting behind them, with a number plate only one less than their number.

Anyway, back to bed.  And I didn't get ready like I usually do with all my gear for the next day.  I left the old pile at the end of the bed.  I thought I would get up early and sort it out Friday morning.

And as I set the scene, let me just say that I am a pyjamas proponent.  And Mike is in the anti pyjamas brigade.  Heck, he also likes cats.  And is a night owl.  Wow - is this a case of opposites attract?  Bwhahahah.  What I am trying to say is, I was naked.  Ok?  Enough said.

5.15am - my alarm goes off.  I used my torch on my phone so I didn't disturb Mike.  I see the huge, heavy glass pint on my bedside table, half full of lime cordial from the night before when Mike was running after his sick wife, retrieving drinks and dinner for her.  And I think, I need to take that to the kitchen.  So I pick it up, and fall over the pile of stuff I stupidly left out yesterday and drop the pint bang on top of the bridge of my foot.  Lime cordial (very sticky) goes everywhere.  Being naked, I am now not only sore, and trying to stand on one foot, I am also covered from the thighs down in sticky lime cordial.

At this ruckus, Mike wakes up.  Which is a little surprising as he has slept through fire alarms and earthquakes in the past.  But anyway, he asks what's wrong.  To me, the worst thing is the painful foot injury I have just inflicted upon my gorgeous foot.

My feet are my best feature.  What have I done?  This is my thought process.

His?  He hears nothing about my foot, only the lime cordial disaster.  So he leaps out of bed to get the mop.  Comes back, turns on the light (yay - cos I still  can't see and I can't move as I am injured - and now I can see the mess I have caused), and then sheepishly hands me the mop because he can't see.  No contacts in.

So I am naked, drenched in lime juice, and standing on one foot, while trying to mop up a mess.  And now I am thinking I should have stayed in bed.

My damaged, yet still eerily beautiful, foot

End up mopping, running around naked, and squeezing the mop into the toilet to continue the job.  Hoping like mad the antics have not woken anyone else up in the house - because how on earth do you explain any of this?

Running late.  Now need a shower before the gym because - well - sticky!  Can't eat my brekkie before I leave.

All a mess.

And this?  This is why you never sleep naked!  That hosty that slept naked in the Kobe earthquake and had to run outside naked.  You always need to listen to her.  Always.

Pyjamas.  That's where it's at.  To prevent the indignity associated with the Kobe Earthquake and the Great Lime Cordial Disaster of 2018.

And you thought your day was going bad?  Heck, mine was pants by 5.30am!

Hahahahaha!!!!

Have a good one.  You just know it'll be better than mine.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday with epic spin class

Hi,

I didn't realise, but Mike had the day off work to recover from his holiday.  Oh - if I'd known that!  Anyway, I had a busy day at work, followed by the best spin class ever!

Matt and Scott teamed up to give us 90 mins of Spin, emulating Taupo.  And it was such fun.  They had great song selections and provided water bottles and bananas.  The effort they went to was much appreciated.

Enduro Spin heart rate

Iced latte @ Machete

My sleep and step insights

Best dinner!

Came home and found dinner ready.  I need a house husband!  Hahahah.

Stupid cough continues.  A dorky one.  Not worth the effort of coughing.  Sigh...  And a snotty nose.

Right.  Time to kick start the day.  With more Spin.

Hope you have a great day.

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with Mike coming home

Hi,

Mike came home!  Yay!  After a crazy day at work, I went to Spin and then caught the bus home.  Sorted out Toby and then headed in to the airport to collect Mike and Adam.  Their flight got in at 9pm from Auckland and we dropped Adam home.

Mike had bought two boxes of Krispy Kremes.  One for home and one for work.  But as I enjoyed the sparse roads on the way home and took the corners at a perfect pace, unbeknownst to us, his bag slid around the boot and squashed the boxes.

Hahah.

Oops.

There was only one donut that took collateral damage - I tried to eat it, and make the sacrifice.  But - it was yucky.  Gooey coffee flavour.  Yuck.  Mike ate it.

Iced latte with Rex

Are you sure you know what you're doing with my S8?

Mike brought Krispy Kremes

I think it came 18th

Melbourne Cup.  My horse wasn't in much danger of taking out the win.  18th, I think.

Right.  Time to kick start the day.  Hope yours is good.

Love,
Angela

The Monday with no Mike

Hi,

But at least he is homeward bound now...

I put the rubbish out.  We have a lot of recycling.
 I did the rubbish!  Woot!

Iced latte with Andrew

With Victor.  You want what in the photo?

My foot?  Weirdo!
Yesterday was a stunning day in the best wee capital city.  Why it coincided with a work day, we cannot fathom.  Some powerful deity was obvs grumpy.

Hahahah.

Anyway, I caught up with Andrew and heard about his wet weekend - but he knocked off 10 spot heights.  So he was happy.

I had an iced latte with Victor.  He took a pic.  And said my foot should be in it.  Well, he is right.  But it was unexpected.

Got home and cooked tea for Toby.  Chicken schnitzels.  His fave.  Tidied.  Laundry.  Went to bed.  Slept like a log.

In for Spin!  Oosshh!

Mike is on his way home.  Yay!  I miss him.

Love,
Angela

The weekend with no Mike

Hi,

Oh - I am missing Mike - but it sounds like he is really enjoying his visit to the MotoGP in Malaysia.  I get random updates from him when he gets back to WiFi range.

Monday morning iced latte goodness with Andrew

They sometimes like each other

Friday iced latte goodness with Edina

My weekend was spent mainly trying to get over a dumb cold (I seem to have got it from Toby).  I got up early Saturday and went to Spin with Sreejith.  It did mean driving to his place in the Hutt to collect him.  But it was worth it.   When I dropped him back, I popped in to see Sally.  Andrew was doing some crazy antics in the bush - in the driving rain and severe gales.  And to think he looks fairly normal on the outside...

But once I was home, it was just a bit of tidying and then a lot of reading.  But it might have worked, as I feel a bit better this morning.

Sunday saw Jase going to a youth conference event (and today too) - he seemed to think it was a good thing.  We watched Legally Blonde together in the evening - he was astonished I had never seen it.  It took me a while to get into it - but it ended up being ok.

Right.  Time to get stuck in once more.  Toby has study week this week - and then exams following on.  Send him any useful exam tips.

Have a great week ahead.  Mike comes home in a few days.  Yay.

Love,
Angela

The Thursday with Mike leaving and lunch with Ange

Hi,

At least I managed to see Mike before he left - we got a coffee together at Machete.  But the pics are actually taken by Jen - who beat Mike to the cafe by 5 mins and obliged by taking the requisite photo while I waited for my man to arrive.

Cheers!

Iced latte after the gym

I also got lunch in with Ange and chatted about various things happening in both our lives - it had been a while since I saw her.  Sapphire is still going strong, despite being advanced in age for a gorgeous cat.  I volunteered to house sit in case Ange is away and can't find anyone.  It'd be like a holiday - tidy house, no mess - and a cat to pat.

And... we met at Felix.  And I discovered it is no longer called Felix.  It is completely different and called...  Eat.  Hmmm.  It was ok.

Mike texted me during the afternoon on his various stops while he waited for flights.  Wellington to Auckland.  Then a long wait for his flight to Coolangatta.  I got a text near midnight of his arrival there.  Guess he is in Malaysia now.

Our car parked right where Sally M saw it

I jumped in the car that Mike left conveniently for me and headed to Evans Bay for a Spin class there.  Had a good session with Deano.

Got home via Maccas.  Toby was happy - but then threw up his dinner.  Oh dear.  He says I have now cured him from eating Maccas.  So - possibly a good thing?  Hahahah.  Poor kid.

We seem to be both a bit sick.  He has a cough.  And my throat is so sore.

Never mind.

Enjoy your weekend.  Tidying for me.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday that felt like Thursday

Hi,

But it was Halloween and Toby loves that day best of all in the calendar.  I think possibly more than his birthday.  And maybe even more than Christmas.

Lucky enough to share an iced latte (and mocha) with Celia @ The Lab.

Toby met me at work and we rushed home to sort out Trick or Treat decorations.  Toby was so excited (and a bit cross I took so long getting packed up at work).  I dropped him at home and rushed to Countdown to buy pumpkins.

Jase was home from work (day off) and helped Toby carve pumpkins.  The porch was decorated with all sorts of skeletons and pumpkins.

I think we had three groups visiting us.  Toby was so excited.  Jase watched in the background, intrigued by his enthusiasm.

And Mike got home and packed for his week away in Malaysia.  He leaves Wellington this afternoon (2.45pm ish) and then flies out of Auckland later today.  Via Coolangatta.  I know.  Weird.  MotoGP here he comes!

I will miss him.

And there you have it.

Have a great day.

Love,
Angela
