The Monday back at work

Hi,

Monday was hard work - but we all got there in the end.  Running over the line like a boss.  Well, some of us.

Jase had a good day with his grandmother - and today sees him heading home.  So good to have him down to visit.

Monday iced latte

More direct lighting

Mike has a sore eye and is off to see the optometrist today.  I hope it is nothing too serious.  When I got home last night, he was in bed feeling sorry for himself - and looking very puffy in one of his eyes.

Karen texted last night with a bushfire warning for Peregian Springs.  Dad took quite a while to get home as the motorway was blocked for a while.  But after looking at various websites and google maps, I found out the fire was heading east - away from my parents' place towards the beach.  Yay for the wind direction.

We were asleep pretty early because of that.  After saying goodbye to Jase.  He's quite used to us going to bed waaaaaay early.

James and I enjoy an iced latte at The Lab

Ed uses the food filter.  Hmmmm.

Walked in this morning.  Then went to boxing and then spin.  I love my Tuesday mornings.  Oosshh!

Have a great day.  Toby is sick with a migraine.  :-(

Angela

The weekend with a bike ride and chilling with Jase

Hi,

What a great weekend - so good to have Jase with us and chilling with him for a lot of the weekend.  We didn't do much Friday night.  Argued about what movie to watch.  Couldn't agree.  Turns out that also occurs in Jase's house.  Hahahah.

Saturday saw us being pretty lazy in the scheme of things.  I think Mike and I eventually went grocery shopping.  Bought junk food.  Finally found a movie for us to watch (ok - I got my way and we watched The Incredibles 2) and we ate chips and chocolate on the couches.

Sunday I was up early and away by 7.30am to ride to Waikane.  Met Andrew at Petone station at 8am.

Me and Jase and Kapiti Island in all its glory

Ride for Sunday

Made good time up to the summit.  And then into Waikanae Beach to meet Sally, Alistair, Mike and Jase and have lunch at Longbeach.

About to tackle the hill

My happy place

Drove home and chilled.  Mike went into work and stayed quite late.  I was weary and in bed by the time he got home.  Zonked out.

Jase has lunch and dinner with his grandmother today.  And she will take him to the airport tomorrow.  It's been such a great visit.  :-)

Right.  Time to try and get warm.

Have a wonderful week ahead.

Angela

The Thursday with unexpected drinks

Hi,

Thursday was busy - but good.  And I guess with my purple shirt on, it eventually felt like Thursday and not Friday - or even Saturday!

I wish.

Hahahah.

Got through the day, and met Mike at The Churchill to chat to his mate Phil for a bit.  Then we got on a 14 and headed home.

Mike sorted tea for everyone.  Toby had recovered from his migraine enough to eat toast.  And maybe some sausages in bread, smothered in tomato sauce.

I had a nice salad.  :-)

Went to bed early and was basically asleep by the time Mike decided to leave poor Jase alone (they were talking for ages!!!) and come to bed too.

Slept almost to my alarm.  Caught the early bus in.  Mike caught the slightly later bus in.  And we went to the gym together.  Such fun!

Weekend beckons.  Tidy house.  Bike ride if I'm lucky.  Brunch Sunday.

Yes.  All good.  Just hanging out to 5pm now.

Have a great weekend.

Love,
Angela

The Wednesday that felt like Friday except I wasn't wearing casual clothes to work

Hi,

Wednesday - ooohhh.  What did you do to me?  Seriously felt like I had already been at work for 5 days.

Morning iced latte

Got home last night and cooked tea for everyone.  Except Toby - he was off school again with another migraine.  So he got toast - and only made by me.  And he can tell the difference (Jase was like:  can't anyone make it?  How can he tell?  And Mike was like:  he can tell. ).  Toby has toast provenance skills that are astounding.

Had PT session bumped to 7am this morning.  Got a sleep in.  Mmmmm.  Caught up with Andrew for an iced latte.  Already starving hungry.  Did deadlift day this morning with Quentin.  Callouses on the palms of my hands.  Going to start cardio sessions next week to get ready for Taupo.  Oosshh.

Life, eh?

Rainy here - but no wind.  And warm.  It's weird.

Have a great day.

Love,
Angela

The Tuesday with Jase arriving

Hi,

Yay - Jase arrived safe and sound.  He got to my work and we had lunch together before he went home.  Mike joined us too.

Moxley was like a wee shadow with him the rest of the day.

Nice.

Gym playing dodgy music, Mike!

This morning's iced latte and brekkie with Celia

Got home yesterday and cooked tea.  I made spag bol with quorn.  We didn't tell Toby.  He ate it all.  Then when I told him it was quorn, he shouted out that my substituting out the mince for quorn was "non-consensual".

I asked if he was happy for me to make it again.  Cos it was yum!

Mike and I went to bed and left Toby and Jase chatting away as they played games together.  :-)  Made us happy.

Today is a wee dreary.  But not switched to a southerly yet.  Phew.

Caught up with Celia this morning for brekkie.  Haven't seen her properly for ages, so it made a cracking start to my day.

Enjoy your day.

Love,
Angela

The Monday back at work

Hi,

I know my Monday looks like a day of iced lattes - but really - what is two coffees in the scheme of the entire day?  Come on.

Iced latte @ The Lab with Amanda

Iced latte at Machete with Andrew

Jase arrives today!  Woot!  So looking forward to seeing him.  He's here for a week.  Yes!

This morning I walked in.  Got to work and realised I had no sports socks for boxing/spin.  Discarded the idea of using my hiking socks and rummaged through my emergency stash of clothes.

Yes!  Found sports socks.

Went to boxing - woah!  I love boxing.  Hammered things for 45 mins.  Heart rate through the roof.  Then ran out and went to spin.  Did that for 45 mins.

Got back to work.  Showered.  Singing.  Getting dressed.  Realised I packed no work socks.

And given I had already rummaged through the emergency stash of clothes I knew that I had no work socks.

Sock drama.

I am at work now, wearing sports socks (that I have to admit are slightly damp from my 1.5 hours of exercise) under my boots.

Right.  The day is sunny - but windy.  There is a southerly change coming this week - with colder, bad weather.

Fun, fun!

Andrew and I are hatching plans for a bike ride.  Maybe Sunday?  Maybe we can convince Sally and Mike to collect us at the other end and have lunch?

Yes, we have plans.  Whether anyone else plays along is debatable at this point.  But...  Anticipation.

Someone came up to me at work and said they saw Mike training hard at the gym this morning.  Like, really hard.  Because they said he looked in pain.  Hahahah.  Good work, Mike!  You are amazing and you will walk those hills in Nepal like a wee mountain goat.

Enjoy your day.

Love,
Angela

The weekend with onam festival

Hi,

I had a bit of time ahead of a catch up for iced latte with someone and had to take a selfie.  Hahahah.  I always look slightly manic.

Rabid looking iced latte selfie

Friday saw me heading home to be with Toby and we decided on a burger for him.  I picked it up and dropped him and burger off at home before heading into town to collect Mike from the pub.  He had caught up with Preeti (leaving to go live in Denmark) and Adam, and bumped into Steph, Bronwyn and Shannon.  So I enjoyed a drink with everyone before hauling Mike out (and dropping Bronwyn home).

Up Saturday to sort out a few things ahead of Anjali arriving (with her family) to help me into my sari.  She is amazing.  We were sorted out in little time and ready to go.  it was in the school hall at St Pats in Kilbirnie.

Queuing for food

We watched the cultural event for a while - dancing and singing.  Some were quite young - all seemed pretty good to my eyes.  Eventually our hunger made us start queuing for the food.  They had a small eating area so we queued in a fairly orderly fashion before finally getting a seat.

Yum!

Anamika, Anjali, me and Sreejith

Mike with us

Me and Mike

It was such a brilliant day - and I was pleased Mike joined us.  Yay.  Thank you Sreejith and Anjali for making is a special day.

Sunday was Fathers Day and Toby got up to make scrambled eggs for Mike.  I didn't get a look in.  Hahahah.  I made myself toast.  Toby presented the ggs to Mike in bed.  Along with a t-shirt that said:  Dad, the myth the legend (or words to that effect) and gave a speech about how wonderful Mike is as a father.

Shucks.

It was lovely.

Then Toby explained the eggs were brown because that is how he likes them.

Ok - lucky I made my own toast.  I like my eggs without any brown.  Hahahahah.

Well done wee Toby - I could tell Mike was chuffed.

Affogato latte - the French cafe's take on iced latte

Toby had some mates (Zack and Ethan) arrive at midday for filming stuff so Mike and I headed off to a cafe to sign paperwork (taxes etc) and have an coffee ahead of a grocery expedition.

Please!  Why do we have so much milk?!

Who is that?

Mike also dug out old paperwork looking for Australian info for us.  And found his old passport photo.  OMG - what a male model.

Have an awesome week!

Love,
Angela
