The weekend with a park run

 Hi,

What a funny weekend.  Seemed to take ages - especially Saturday.  Guess that is a good thing.  Because boot camp is now a thing of the past, Mike and Janine were casting around for a substitute and found the local Park Run events.  Trentham and Lower Hutt.  Fortunately we agreed on Lower Hutt - as it was not as far to drive for us as Trentham.  For an 8am Saturday start - this was a good thing.

What have Mike and Janine got me into now?

Got up at 6.15am.  Groan.  I ate some toast before we left at around 7.10am.  Might need to get bananas in for quick energy food closer to the run time.  Will tweak this.

The weather was still and a little cool.  Perfect running weather.  We parked outside Sally and Andrew's place and walked up for the start.  Met Janine - ready to go!  And James, Dylan and Spyro.

The run went okay for me.  I finished the 5km just a hair under 35 minutes.  And I am happy to do this on the Saturdays when we are in town to get us out of bed.

Celia and James came to watch us all finish and we met Bob for the first time.  What a gorgeous wee pup.  Helen and Esme were there too so we all wandered to the local bakery.  Mike bought half the shop and I got about 500ml of iced latte!  It was good.  But a lot.

Said goodbye to everyone and went to visit with Sally and Andrew for a bit.  Chatted to them and then we headed home for lunch.

Nice weekend weather

Yeah  - that is a focussed look

Spyro loves it

We chilled at home before rushing out to the supermarket to make sure we had some drinks and snacks for the evening.  We got home just as Hamish and Ryan turned up.  Sarah wasn't far behind them.  We chatted away before Mike went to grab the burgers.

Off to bed quite early and a lazy start to Sunday with fresh bread.  Mmmmm.

Just lolling about

Iced coffee after - hello wee Bob!

Mike was busy through the day.  He fixed (I reckon) the leak in the Subaru.  Took all the panels off and it was certainly full of dirt, sticks and general detritus.  He cleaned it all out.

He chopped wood too.  He was busy!  We also chatted to Toby and Tessa.  They are both well.  We see them tomorrow night!

We drove Transmission Gully for the first time.  Beautiful piece of road.  Great views of a part of the Wellington region I have never seen before.  The clay banks loom high above the road in some places.  I hope it stays there with a lot of rain.  We saw two police cars that had pulled over drivers southbound.  The roads are certainly wide and steep.  It was fast too.  Way better than the old road.

We went to the Caltex on Kapiti Road in Paraparaumu.  Had the most useless no-touch car wash.  The water dribbled out and our car was not terribly clean after that.  So Mike went in and got a normal wash - the person had mentioned there were issues with the no-touch.  Yes - there were.  The normal wash was a lot better.

Left there at 6.25pm and we were at Sally and Andrew's by 6.55pm.  Pretty good.

Had burgers.  Again.  Hahahah.  Looked at some YouTube videos.  And then headed home at 9pm.

Up Monday for Mike's online PT session in the park - while I ran around the perimeter.  3km.  It was okay.

Work again - but it is a short week this week.

Have a good one.

Love,

Angela
