Hi,
Back in December Gemma thought it would be wonderful to go to Hiakai for her birthday. The closest date to her birthday that was free for us all was last night (Thurs). there were ten of us after all - and Hiakai has a long waiting list.
Ange dropped me and Mike home after work and then we picked her up to head to Hiakai. This place did not disappoint.

This mushroom pie was superb |
The story behind our meal |
And Mike's end of the table even had Monique herself deliver plated food to them. I might have been fangirling a bit. Mike didn't even notice. Hahah.
Our reservation was for 7pm and I think we finished around 10.30 or so. Wow. This place is stunning. The vegetarian options I got were well thought out and fitted with the theme of the meal - the story of creation in Aotearoa.
To go somewhere where the food is practically an artform and yet you feel welcomed and they are with you every step of the journey through the meal is mind-blowing. I hope they continue to thrive and excel and keeping reaching new levels of taste and pleasure.
Home to fall into bed. Up to a gorgeous morning.
Friday is stunning |
Machete for a brekkie with Arthur |
7.15am bus to meet Arthur at Machete. Yes, I was there for the second Friday in a row. Caught up with his news - he is happy and settled in Wellington. Living in Lower Hutt. Working like a crazy man. :-)
Good to see him - it had been too long.
Weekend beckons. Martinborough for Mike's second half marathon. Leaving tonight after work. Woot!
Take care.
Love,
Angela
