Day 6 - Forest Camp (2560m)-Rest Camp-Low Camp-Bidal Danda (3250m)
Still rainy, still cloudy. Porridge and pancakes for breakfast. In the morning we played with buffalo in the paddock just above the guest house. Very tame and friendly. I think they were expecting treats.A short day today but steeply up. Muddy, misty and Rhododendron goblin forest felt very Tararuas-like. We met a new breed of bigger, fatter, tree climbing leeches. Lots of big steep rooty steps to get up. Very grateful for 'Quads by QBPT'.
Passed through Rest Camp - we rested - but no tea here.
Low camp for tea break.
Then we found Naichha, a guest house that hadn't opened for the season yet.
Naichha - Altimeter says we're getting up high |
Naichha - Anita and her twin |
Reached Bidal Danda around 12:30pm. Our guest house advertised 'the best Dal Bhat' and they weren't lying. I cleaned up everyone's chilli. I'm getting a reputation I think.
Dal Bhat, Angela's face says it all |
Nice - but cold |
Early night listening to podcasts. Cold in the bedroom! But warm in my sleeping bag and merino top. Slept well.
Hindu Gods
Brama - the creator. And his wife Sarasawaty - of education. Has a sitar.
Vishnu - protection. And wife Laxmi - of wealth.
Shiva - destruction. And wife Parbati - of faith. She is quite low profile!
Krishna - love and romance. With 100 wives and 1600 girlfriends...
