Driving to Pokhara

Day 3 - Kathmandu-Pokhara

Driving day! It took us from 8:30am to 4:00pm to make the 200km journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara.

Up early for sunrise photos. Overcast thought. Talked to Dad on skype and gave him a video tour of the hotel.

Breakfast of omelette and toast with jam and odd butter.

Into the bus.  Sitting up front, on the engine cover, a foot away from the windscreen.

Seems safe enough

Amazingly chaotic. A big traffic jam just out of Kathmandu due to a broken down truck. Driver was amazing. Passing on blind corners and into oncoming traffic was just 'normal' but complex indicator and horn thing to communicate with other drivers.

Traffic jam snaking down the hill out of Kathmandu valley
And Rick got the photo of me taking that photo!

Wonderful green hills, deep gorges, big rivers, rice and millet fields everywhere.

Lunch on the way

We arrived at the Hotel Nice Dream for snacks then off to Paradise cafe and bar for beers and dinner. Chatted to Sue.

Dancing ethnic maidens were better than the Sendosa Island maidens.

Yummy dinner.

Big thunderstorms and rain and wind after dinner.
