The weekend with more days than normal

Hi,

Friday we had takeaways at Vivienne and John's house.  We tried the new Indian takeaway at the Wadestown shops and we all decided it was pretty good really.  It did take 45 minutes for the food.  We think their first Friday evening was a bit much for them.  The evening meal with Vivienne and John was a lot of fun!  I took my boys home and drove Mike's mother home and enjoyed my drive back.

Saturday morning was relaxing.  Eventually we decided to paint the deck.  Well, start to paint the deck.   Such a nice day - I sat on the deck for ages in a t-shirt and was quite comfortable.  Not too bad for the first of June!  We painted for quite a few hours and only managed a third of it.  It is undercoat still.  So by our estimates, we should be done by summer!  Hahahah.  Mike is calculating if we only eat rice for the next 6 months, could we afford the painter's services.

White undercoat

And still lots to paint

After the painting was done for the day I took Toby out to a movie.  We went to see Star Trek Into Darkness.  Toby loved it.

Nom, nom.  Toby loves his Maccas
Spoiler alert (from Mike):
Skype was open on the laptop when I started using it, so I saw Toby's comment to Akash about the very best scene in Into Darkness:

haha lol admirals head EXPLODED :-D
khan is the best character EVA

So, I think that means Toby gave it the thumbs up.

Back home to bed.  Sunday we were up early.  Mike went off to work and I took Toby to the market with Vivienne and Ramble.  I think Toby liked it.  Not too sure if I'll get him there again any time soon.  Unless Ramble is there, maybe.

Back home and I packed a bag for Toby.  He had a sleepover arranged with Jake.  After he was picked up, I had a bath and then went out to Petone to buy a new pan.  I bumped into Ian and Robyn (and wee Emma - who is not so wee) and we both bought the exact same pans.  I have already used one of them and it worked great!  Tried to buy singlets for Toby and failed.  What is wrong with this place?  I want to buy white size 12 singlets for Toby.  Bonds.  Can I find them anywhere?

Went to Kathmandu to buy Toby new tramping gear (his is all size 8 and looking a bit tight).  Nothing.  I give up.  I'm going to Sydney to do my clothes shopping!

Back home and dressed for dinner.  Took the bus in and met Mike at work.  We drove to the other end of town and had a great meal at Capitol.  Very pleasant.  I like it there.  I had fish and Mike had the chicken.  Finished off with their great chocolate pudding.  Yum!

Monday we woke up and Mike had to go back to work.  He took me and Alex and Jake to the train station and the boys and I went to Armageddon.

Wrestling.  "It's so fake".  Yes, but they loved it.

The Main Stage - where I sat and listened to B stars while the boys wandered

Lunch.
Back home eventually and cooked dinner.  Mike came home and his mother stayed.  She's looking after Toby today and tomorrow because it is teacher only day.

Had a nice ride in this morning.  The roads were wet but no rain at all.  My bike computer is working (thanks Mike!).  Two people in vehicles did try to kill me.  It does wonders for your adrenaline.  I wonder what part of my flashing bike and fluoro body they cannot see.  Well, actually, given I was watching both of them, I know neither of them actually looked.  They both just took off.  No indicator.  Just drove off while I was right on their driver's door.  The neighbour close to us had no excuse except perhaps a lack of coffee and he shouldn't be allowed to operate a car until he is awake.  The truck driver had another vehicle to watch, so obviously he couldn't see me - that would require two things to do at once  He actually apologised, which was nice.  And then said "You snuck up the side of me".  Right.  Snuck.  With my flashing lights and fluoro jacket.  While he was parked.  And another car coming the opposite way so I had to pass quite close to the truck.  Snuck.  Yep - bikes like to sneak, so no one sees them and they get knocked off and killed.  Obviously.

Have a fantastic week!
Love,
Angela
