The weekend with some earthquake excitement

Hi,

Well, a decent earthquake at 2.30pm on Friday afternoon put paid to our production migration for Friday evening.  We had to evacuate the building and then we were allowed back in quickly to collect some stuff.  I grabbed my bike and Mike and I rode home past loads of stationary cars.

We got captured on video milling about outside our work, and shots of us are getting used quite often as background shots during the TVNZ earthquake coverage. Like this one: http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/stay-inside-during-quakes-civil-defence-says-video-5537701

It took Toby two hours on the school bus to get home.  50 minutes from the cathedral in Molesworth St to our house.  Wow!  Crazy.

A few decent aftershocks but our house seems pretty solid.  Glad we live so close to town so we can easily walk home if needs be.  In a huge quake I probably wouldn't want to (or be able to) collect my bike from the basement.

Mike left early Saturday for a damp but great tramp to Sayer Hut.  Toby and I had a leisurely morning before heading out to buy Jacob a present.  Then back for lunch at home before going to Paintball in Lower Hutt for Jacob's party.  I left Toby in Jacob's father's hands and had a nice drive back home in the wee green car.

When Toby got back he immediately packed and had a sleepover with Jacob.  So I had the house to myself.  I watched some television (DVD) and fell asleep around 9pm.  Hahahah!  Couldn't even stay up to watch the rugby.

Had a great sleep and then went out to the market with Vivienne.  We also went to the Andy Warhol exhibition at Te Papa.  Great fun.
Fish for supper

We got told off for taking this photo.  It wasn't even inside the hall.  Crazy.

Back home to see Toby and a relaxing afternoon before Mike got home from his tramp.  Then we went out to the Moore Wilson Food and Wine night.  With half of Wellington.  We watched a salsa band for a bit and then went to Courtney Place to eat Oporto Bugers (Toby's new favourite eatery) and an ice cream at Kaffee Eis*.

Back home to bed.

Up early for the Monday morning routine.  Nice ride in.  Early fire alarm at work.  Nice.

Have a wonderful week.
Love,
Angela
