1 Oct - Kathmandu to Pokhara
Up bright and early and down to the lobby, boots on and porters bag in hand.
We were all prompt and so we were trotting off to the bus stop in good time.

Dashain traffic meant that even leaving Kathmandu took ages. Then we hit all
the roadworks. They are widening the road, most of it will be four lanes
soon - in the meantime it's dirt and gravel. But at least it'll be faster
(and scarier!) next time.
There's even a huge dual tunnel nearly finished, that will go under the
Kathmandu valley hill we have to cross! It really won't be the same after
that.

We were ten hours on the road in the end! Thanks to road works and Dashain
traffic.
We gratefully arrived in Pokhara and checked into Hotel Grand Holiday. Then it
was dinner time, basically.
Off to Med5 Restaurant, conveniently about 20 metres down the road., Vege
pizza for me, well made but pretty boring - all my fault, I didn't click that
it was just a base that I needed to put a lot more extras onto.
We start hiking tomorrow! So exciting.
